Heater Body suit/ IWOM

For those of you who added slits to your hbs, how did you decide where to put them? My thinking would be a dimension from the zipper out each way and then from the top of the suit where it sits on our shoulders. I'm sure tether height and bridge length will also affect the location per user.

I know where my bridge is relative to my body. I put the suit on and guessed. You could put the suit on and not zip it and hook up at ground level and mark it

Thank you for the response.
1. How long did you make your slits?
2. Did you add buttons or a zipper to the slits?

I had a HBS and it was warm but I did not like the no arm thing. The feet on it were great. I gave it to my son and got an IWOM. I love it as I can use my arms without unzipping. They need to make one out of MT050 with arms and feet and keep the slits for the bridge like the IWOM has and I think it would be perfect. I love the IWOM for ground blind hunting with a crossbow but I fear the movement for a compound or traditional bow would make too much noise. I have the Sanctuary bibs and parka and the IWOM is MUCH warmer especially in wind. The Sanctuary gear would be perfect also if it had a little wind barrier in it.

My wife is looking at make them for us. But, I am thinking a tall bib for over the boots that will allow it to be muddy when entering suit without making us too muddy. Then a too that goes down to the mid thighs to knee, this should give good protection to keep air out, might even put in a snap system underneath.

We are debating the bridge for the saddle, a stand strap pass thru, and arms. I am torn on the arms between having them and not having them. I have also thought about having magnets on the sides to allow you to just slip out your arms. Still up in the air on that part. But, this is her project from now until October.

Part of what I like about the HBS is no arms, it’s nice to slip out of to shoot. Anything that is that warm with arms is usually bulky & hard to shoot out of.

I was talking with her this evening about it. Maybe thin and tight that can come out and then bulky and warm that magnetically seals to keep in the heat, don't like velcro and most zippers are too loud.

I dress pretty light underneath like something you’ll wear for active 50-60 degree weather. Don’t see a huge benefit to multiple layers in the same suit. Your going to make it hard to put on at the tree& as soon as you open it to come out & shoot your dumping all the heat anyway. You could always add the inner light layers later if you find you need them. If it’s diy my biggest suggestion would be some type of wind blocking layer.

I had a hbs that I cut slits for my bridge to run through, worked well. I like my iwom better bridge goes through the handwarmer pockets without mods ( you do need to cut a open the inside of these & stich the seams ) You need a platform & an extra bridge that’s detachable
(Do need to mention that you need to practice at ground level, it’s a little bit of planning to stay securely attached the whole time)
I put it on like a jacket while on LB then pass the bridge through & clip in, detach LB & finish putting iwom down to feet. Real easy to not clip into the right loops
