Help me fix the knee to tree pain.

I've heard good things about the trophy line pads. I'll give them a shot along with the squirrel step idea. Thanks

I have the trophy line knee pads and they are pretty comfortable I lean/sit on smaller trees with little problem

This is not the most compact pad but it is amazing on the tree. The longer you sit, the more comfortable it gets. Your knees burrow into the center creating a dam on the outside, which keeps yours knees from trying to spread around the tree. I hang it on the tail of my hys strap with a small biner. When I walk in, I clip it to my backpack strap and it hangs under my arm. Really comfy. I can sit for hours and never move.View attachment 69253
Thats awesome. I have that but never thought of using it there. Lots of padding.

Come to the light, the JX3 tree saddle light..............
Don't be afraid, you will sit from dark to dark very comfortably, no fidgeting, be able to snooze when you want, no dreaded hip pinch, no back aches, you can shoot 360° around the tree with any weapon, bow or gun.
No platform required, only a ROS, no sore feet, no knee pads required, no sore knees, no tired legs from leaning as you can sit all day, built in pack frame for carrying all your needs. No getting into “saddle shape” as your Lazy Boy at home does it for you. Buy once, cry once.

I've tried the Trophyline knee pads, but they actually made me less comfortable, not more. The best solution for me is to tie a 1" thick cheap foam butt pad from Rural King around the tree at knee height with paracord. It takes up very little space in my pack and adds virtually no weight, and it makes a huge difference for me. Sometimes the best solution is the cheapest and easiest!

What do you do if the tree has branches and you can’t move around it? Might want to have a platform to turn around on. Wearing a chair might get in the way.

Haven't run into this problem yet, but nothing a little folding saw won't solve, who looks up 20+ feet ????

Is that your first post that isn't "come to the light.." :tearsofjoy:

Mr. Horn-
Not at all, search the archives and you will see that I blab about other things.
My advise comes after 35 years of saddle hunting.

I'll take your word for it. I still nominate @John 35 for an award!

This really isn't any different than a soft saddle though.

I was wondering if it would get in the way if you wanted to turn around and lean your back against the tree. It does look comfy. I eagerly await my award.

I use these from lowes. I already had them and they work great. I also use 2 steps on each side of the tree. On all day sits I use them to straddle the tree which helps. Also what really helps is don’t set up with your knees 90 degrees to the tree. Raise your but up from 90 and it takes pressure off the knees.

It depends on the platform, just like a soft saddle.

I don't promote JX3. It's a weird thing imo. But it has it's upside too.

I just don't know where to go with boxing it in to very specific situations when you can box other options out with specific situations too.

Can I turn on my RRxl with my JX3 on, yep. And lean my Jx3 covered back to the tree, yep. Why would I want to?

If this doesn't do it for you, nothing will...
