Well I’m happy. I paper tune 300 spine arrow with 100gn insert and 150 gn field tip and received 3 bullet holes in a row.
Total arrow weight is .505 gns

I have the fixed power, have not installed it, I was concerned about string clearence.Swapped out the scope today to a Hawke XB1 the speed adjuster is set at about 325-330 I was only able to sight and test it out to 30 yards but the first crosshair is right on at 10 and 20 yards and second crosshair is right on at 30 yards, same hole shots. When some more snow banks recede I can get farther from the target, I'll be happy if the 40 yard pin follows suit.
Thanks what limb silencers did you use?I ended up taking off the top string silencer because it was hitting the scope. I also put limb silencers and they dampened it lot.
what's magical about 650 grains? i'm somewhat of a ranch fairy beleiver, but we arent shooting rhinos here.Has anyone tried anything higher than 500 grains? Like the magical 650 grains? Sure you’d have go with a lower spine then the standard 300. Maybe a 250 spine with a 200 grain single bevel head. I was all set up with my 500 grain setup and thinking about switching to a Magnus Black Hornet Ser-Razor and calling it a day. But really intrigued about a 650 grain single bevel setup but don’t know if that’s possible with such a short arrow and high poundage. Of course I could just try it and report my results but was curious if anyone went that road yet. Thanks again fellow saddle hunters! Matt
A louder bow with too slow an arrow would bug me a little, wonder if that’s a recipe for issues at 30 yards, who knows.what's magical about 650 grains? i'm somewhat of a ranch fairy beleiver, but we arent shooting rhinos here.
Well it definitely wouldn’t be louder. I’m thinking about off angle shots or when the unexpected happens like hitting a branch or the deer changing the angleA louder bow with too slow an arrow would bug me a little, wonder if that’s a recipe for issues at 30 yards, who knows.
I'm getting perfect arrow flight with 735 grains. I hadn't planned on going that heavy, or with a spine that stiff, but I'm bareshafting bullet holes with 735 and getting tears with everything else. Actually building my hunting arrows has been a much slower process than I had planned on but I should have a six-pack ready to go by the time the snow melts. 3 with Grizzly Kodiaks and 3 with Grizzlystick Samurais. Plus a couple of field points.Has anyone tried anything higher than 500 grains? Like the magical 650 grains? Sure you’d have go with a lower spine then the standard 300. Oops to clarify, just the mini or any crossbow being a relatively louder bow, but yeah adding weight of course shaved some dBs.Well it definitely wouldn’t be louder. I’m thinking about off angle shots or when the unexpected happens like hitting a branch or the deer changing the angle

So...what's the going rate on a used mini on the classifieds? May be parting with mine.
