How many arrows do you take into the field?

5. I use knock off shwacker broadheads so I dont mind shooting a few at squirrels.

Quiver carries 4 (3 magnus stingers and a judo point for that inevitable annoying squirrel that won't stop chirping at you). Probably more than needed, but much like my other gear, usually carrying more than what i need. May not need it, but can't use if you don't have
 
I love to stump shoot a few judos on the way to/from the stand or right before I get down.
But I just read the PA regs book yesterday and saw something Ive never noticed before. Looks like by the letter of the law, its not legal to stump shoot during deer seasons. How stupid is that??

I guess not during deer season.
Law prohibits "random shooting" during deer season. Only allows shooting at legal game animals.
There is more wording to it, but it seems like a hard ass warden could write up a guy for shooting a judo into a rotted stump during deer season. Yet another reg that needs reworded.

I carry 3 broadheads. If it takes more than that I think you should cut your losses. Unless your hunting other game at the same time.

He would have to be a real Roscoe Rules to bust somebody for shooting a stump...Just tell him "they are good eating, you should try it sometime!"

I thought of this thread last night. I got set up and noticed a small dead limb that might be in my way. When I broke it off I accidentally knocked my arrow of my rest and it fell to the ground. It reaffirmed why I carry three broadheads.

Exactly my thoughts. Idk how many wardens are in your area but I have yet to see one while in the field hunting. They would have to be hard pressed to ticket someone for that rule violation. Thinking maybe that rule is aimed more at gun owners but who knows. I’d chalk it up to a missed squirrel if ever actually approached by a warden on this issue.

Also - firearms (which are a lot more disruptive and dangerous than archery equipment).

I am taking 3 new broadhead and 2 old.
 
I take enough to drop my quiver and have one left over to hunt with...

For the "if I don't get it done with x shots, you should cut your losses" folks - consider the very real possibility of "bumped my sight, screwed up my 3rd axis, made a bad hit and the deer is slowly slinking away". My story had a happy ending, but it's definitely made me more receptive to carrying an extra arrow or 3.
