How many deer have you killed?

How old you are: 49...50 next month

When you started: 34

How many seasons: 15 so far

Where you're from/where you generally hunt: Technically Agana, Guam. However lived in Illinois the entire time from 28-present.

And how many deer you've kilt! 28-30

This might be a fun summer post!

I have never killed a deer outside of Illinois and hunt primarily public, btw. I have killed three pigs. 1 in Oklahoma and 2 in Arkansas.

Im 45
Killed my 1st deer with a bow at 16 got serious about bow hunting around 19.
I hunt Missouri and Kansas.
I lost track around 250 with a bow. Another 20 or so with a gun.
I hunted a lot of public until 1998 or so. Ive been blessed with some overloaded private land to hunt at different times although if I had to kill a monster Id hit the public again.
If I had to give one bit of advice it would be KEEP A JOURNAL and ENJOY YOUR OWN RIDE. Be it hunting monsters or being an antlerless slayer. I get a bigger kick out of targeting old Nannys and filling the freezer than looking for a big buck but they are nice to shoot too.

I'm 55 yrs old, and killed my 1st buck when I was 16. I took off a bunch of years for the service and college so I have 32 seasons. I've killed 5 with rifle or shotgun, and 36 with a bow, including one 166+ 61/2 yr old who weighed in at 215 lbs. dressed. Killed one elk, and one mule deer, both with a bow (in CO). All my gun kills, and 2 bow kills were in NY, and all my other whitetail kills have been from public land in MA. I started saddle hunting last year and killed two bucks. I do keep a kill log, which outlines my shot percentages and locations.

Age: 45 (gah, I was just 35 the other day).

When you started: About 10 years ago. My dad last hunted when I was 4 or 5, and I never did, but liked the idea of it. My wife's family invited me one Thanksgiving to their lease while we were visiting. Raided Wal-Mart for camo & boots, borrowed a rifle... was the only one to kill anything for the rest of the weekend. I haven't connected with anything at home in Michigan yet. Not for lack of seeing them, just never seeing the one I want, close enough. All my kills are via rifle. I've missed a few bow shots.

How many seasons: I skipped several more years until my son turned 13 and asked me to take him again. Maybe 6 total, if you count Thanksgiving weekend trips while visiting in-laws. I've only really gone out for maybe 3 years in Michigan.

Weapon type: .270 (3 deer), .308 (2 deer), .357 lever-gat (none yet), .450BM AR (none yet), Compound bow (I'd have had maybe 4 with it, if the dang thing would shoot straight when it gets excited).

Where you're from/where you generally hunt: Grew up just outside Detroit, live 15 miles north of Ohio. I hunt public land - Hudson Lake State Park is close, Lost Nations Game Area is farther but worth the drive. I haven't put boots on the ground anywhere else. Lost touch with the buddy who had private land.

And how many deer you've kilt!: 5. 2 does, 1 button, a 6pt, and a 12pt. All in Alabama. My avatar pic is the biggest. Allegedly he was an escapee from a private hunting ranch that imported yankee deer for good ole boys to pay for shooting at, whose fence got knocked down in a flood. Allegedly my father-in-law's other son-in-law had him on camera and was setting up to get him, and may or may not have had a illegal corn pile around, but I happened into the right time and place first. Honestly, I had not even met the other guy yet - FIL said I could hunt his back 40, so I did. First morning there, first field-edge I found, BOOM. I learned about the corn pile after the fact, but the buck was bee-lining for it. I split some of the meat with the other guy to patch over some hard feelings, but I kept that mount for myself.

How old you are: 43
When you started: 37

How many seasons: 6

Where you're from/where you generally hunt: Ontario and Ohio
And how many deer you've kilt! Recovered 5 one Buck 4 doe

How old are you 52
How many seasons 30
Where are you from/ where you generally hunt. Uk Texas
How many deer have you kilt . Whitetail with a bow 28 , in the uk bearing in mind that I had 16 seasons culling deer probably averaging 100 a year . I pretty much burnt myself out and fell out of love with deer stalking and haven't shot a deer here in 2 seasons. I think the telling thing is the only deer mounts I've ever had done have been whitetail , 2 or 3 deer in a season is plenty

Some impressive hunters here!

Started around 8 years old in 2000

First kill in 2006 when I was 14.

26 years old now

I have kept a record for our management goals
, have 39 kills

Mix of public and private all in Georgia

Cool question. I turn 30 this month, and started deer hunting at about 12. I think I have hunted 11 seasons since then with an extended layover from 18-26 where I was in college and more interested in girls and partying than freezing my butt off in a treestand. I haven't been particularly successful as a deer hunter. I killed my first deer at 17, a small buck, after many missed opportunities. Since I have been back to hunting I have killed a deer a year, so 4 deer (button buck, and 3 does). I have had some killer encounters with nice bucks, but haven't been able to close the deal on one. I spend 100% of my hunting time in Indiana, and probably 95% of that is on big woods public land in the south central part of the state.

I am 52.

Started squirrel and rabbit hunting when I was 5 with an Iver Johnson single 410. There were no deer back then in Western NC, not even a season locally, so didn't start deer hunting until I was 15 in other parts of the state, and even then, it was a monumental moment if you saw a doe or a few tracks in a season. We started hunting a club in SC when I was 20 and finally saw deer everytime out and shot a doe on our first trip there. 2 days later, I shot an 8pt locally with a kit built Hawken ml and the rest is history.

Due to the liberal limits and quantity of deer in SC, I turned into a killing machine and quit keeping a log or counting when I passed 100. I followed the usual path of quantity with an occasional nice buck by accident to focused quality and decided that the club scene was not the best place to harvest big bucks. Through reading and scouting, I found bigger bucks on NC gamelands than we had on expensive leased land in SC, so I quit the clubs and started hunting public. After success here, I branched out to other states. Connected in Virginia, passed some 140s in Wisconsin, and have hunted Indiana and Ohio, but have not had any shooters in range there.

I have reached the point now that I despise seeing does (we do not have a real rut locally like the midwest, so not a factor) and have used my own version of beast tactics, before I even heard of Dan. I almost never hunt the same spot 2x in a season, except for a local parcel of private where we have shooting houses over food plots and I take my sons and nephews for the experience.

How old you are: 31 years old

When you started: I killed my first deer at 16

How many seasons: 14 total hunting seasons

Where you're from/where you generally hunt: I grew up in Michigan and still hunt there every year. For a few years I lived in PA and for the last 5 years I’ve lived in Ohio.

And how many deer you've killed: 47 big game animals in that time (44 deer, a black bear, a hog, and a pronghorn).

I may have missed a few early on, but these are the ones in my photo album.

first 10 years I either had no land to hunt or got one day at in-laws property - literally hunted ~ 15 total days in those 1st 10 years. If I recall I killed 7 deer in that span - the in laws farm was full of deer - but never shot a buck
I have had leases since (last 6 years)- and spend as much time working on getting my kids on deer as I do myself. I began logging all my hunts once I had a lease and I have personally shot another 11 in the past 6 seasons, and my kids have knocked down another 8 - all but one with me in the blind with them

I'm 56. Started deer hunting in 1983. 36 seasons. Killed my first deer in S. Alabama but live and hunt my home state of Missouri, exclusively. I'm sure that I have killed well over 100 deer since I started hunting, but do not have an actual count. Mr. Warren is an inspiration to me.

59 Year Old\Hunting Deer 13 Seasons over 41 years of Hunting. Spent most of my hunting trying to keep my beagles from running deer. Prefer bow hunting over gun. Choice caliber is 30-06 I took my first deer at age 18. Still would use the same gun today if I decided to go gun hunting. 9 Bucks 2 does in Kentucky. 2 Bucks in Alabama. Thus the user name Kenbama. I let most of the deer walk by. I will harvest a deer if I like the rack or someone ask me to get them one. Reminds me of a time a old friend ask me to take a deer for him. I harvested the deer and gave him a call to come and pick it up. He said "we have a problem he was busy and did not have the time to take care of it". I quickly proclaimed WE do not have a problem he had one. Come and get the deer.
