Can’t really remember the exact year I started.

First deer when I was 14.

Probably have taken roughly 30 deer. Try to make sure to get a couple in the freezer each year. I have a very generous Father in Law who usually gives us a quarter of beef each year from what he raises but my wife and kids also like venison. But 2-3 deer a year works out great for us.
Usually hold out the first 3 months of the season for a nice buck but will shoot a doe or two later in the season when I get an easy shot and a short recovery.

All my deer have been from Delaware and Maryland. I live in Maryland but the state line is only 3-4 miles away so I hunt both every year.

Delaware
Age: 31
Starting age: 24
Seasons: 6
Deer down: 1.5 (I count half of my buddy’s deer because I called him in, tracked and recovered him, and helped him gut the bad boy. He just had to shoot, and he didn’t shoot well, missing the breadbasket and bringing the buck down by severing the femoral artery with broadhead.) In the years since I those two deer, I have had at least one more opportunity to draw my bow on a deer each season, but don’t always get to shoot. I have missed two due to improper ranging, and a third due to a string jump. Hoping to dowse my dry spell this year.

I'm 34. Started deer hunting when I was 16. I didn't hunt with a bow much until my early 20's, so I'll just say 15 seasons. I don't know the exact count, but I think it's in the high 50's that I've killed. Most of those are with a compound bow. I've probably killed 12 or so with a gun. Since I've switched to a recurve I've taken 4.

Of all those I've taken 6 bucks that were 4.5 years old or older, (4) 3.5 year olds, (2) 2.5 year olds, and (2) 1.5 year olds. Best bow buck is a 160" 13 point. Best gun buck is a 140" 9 point.

Most all of these were taken in southeast Missouri. Nothing taken from a saddle....yet.

Where the skys are so blue!
Fun reading back through this thread.

Added 6 deer to the list so far this year. So 26. One for each year of my piddlin' little life. Goal is double digits from here on out! Maybe one day I'll catch up to @WHW!

You’re going to have to quit your job to catch up.
I killed four this year but it’s not over yet.

About 30 deer total, approximately half of those from the saddle, including 2 of 3 this year. So far all in MD and NE PA, looking to add TN and OH to my list of locations next season.

I have shot about 5 in 40 years. The last one I got before the one I shot this past October was in 1993 when I decided to go out every day, 2 hours in the morning and evening until I got one. I really haven't hunted deer since then and hardly any time over the years. I think my success rate is probably very good (Hours in woods/deer killed). I always have had to hunt public land.

I started hunting 6 years ago at 55 years old. I have got 6 deer in 6 years of hunting and several turkeys . I get two deer tags per year. Our deer are not as plentiful as in the USA - my excuse but true.
I hunted about ten times this year because I have too many other responsibilities. I am not a great hunter but have fun. I enjoy this whole saddle hunting journey I started in a saddle four years ago.

Hunting replaced hockey as a sport for me and I enjoy the learning and challenge and exercise and the meat. I would like to get a trophy buck some day. My last day to hunt is today but other people are calling for my time

7 or 8 seasons when i was younger produced 5 bucks (not against shooting does they just always evade me haha)
Started again this year but new to the region and public land hunting so nothing on the ground yet. Came into this year with a "lets figure it out" mentality so i can hit it hard next year, but i am realizing how much i missed being out there. Especially this last hunt where i had a sounder of pigs come in to five yards behind me while i was on the ground (unfortunately i never got a shot through the brush).

I've got time on my side! 10 a year and I'll be at 400 by the time I'm retired! Lol
If I tried to kill 10 a year I would never retire. Alimony and child support will put a hurting on your retirement savings. Should you ever decide to hatch off a litter of crotch goblins(I think that was what you referred to them as) it’ll be ten trips to the woods a year including scouting.

I'd be at 9 if it wasn't for 3 misses during archery season, and I took off thanksgiving through Christmas to duck hunt.

Kids might put a damper on things for a while, but eventually they're just extra tags for me to fill. ;)

I only sent for one tag and was kicking myself later for not sending for more. Anyway, I still have half a deer to eat.

I'm 55 yrs old, and killed my 1st buck when I was 16. I took off a bunch of years for the service and college so I have 32 seasons. I've killed 5 with rifle or shotgun, and 36 with a bow, including one 166+ 61/2 yr old who weighed in at 215 lbs. dressed. Killed one elk, and one mule deer, both with a bow (in CO). All my gun kills, and 2 bow kills were in NY, and all my other whitetail kills have been from public land in MA. I started saddle hunting last year and killed two bucks. I do keep a kill log, which outlines my shot percentages and locations.
add two more from this season.
