V-method:
Big wall aider and 2 10' hss ropes and prussics 1.5 lbs.
WATER: 1 fluid ounce weighs 1.04 dry ounces...16 ounces of water weighs in at 1.04 lbs. I usually try and carry 30 ounces of water which equals just under 2lbs.
Approximate weight for everything (bow, water, food) is 27.2 lbs of gear and that's if I bring everything listed. I know I won't but I'll probably bring my DRT rope in the bottom of my pack and my one stick method and predator or cranford folding steps. So with that said I know that my pack is 4.8 lbs. DRT rope is 5lbs. Cranford steps is under 1 lb and my predator stand is 3lbs.
Pack: 4.8
DRT: 5.5
Predator: 3.5
Kestrel: 5lbs
Matthews Triax: 4.46 pounds + 5 arrow tightspot quiver 9.9 ounces and 5 arrows @400 grains each is approx 5lbs total for bow setup.
food: >1 lbs of food
Water: >2 lbs of water
26 lbs of gear, food, water and weapon. Take out my DRT method and I'm at 21lbs. Take out my predator and that's now 18.3 lbs and add the cranford steps >20 lbs. This is early season...factor in mid season and late season clothing and the weight goes up extensively.
I don't count the grams, ounces etc...as I used to carry out in the woods 45-50 lbs of climbing stand, harness, life line, kill kit, food water and everything I thought I would need. The saddle system is light speed compared to what I used to carry 3-5 years ago.
So last night I went to my basement and weighed almost all of my climbing gear...What surprised me the most was that my saddle with my heavy duty suspenders, two kifaru large pouches, one sys hauler, and one doyles gear hoist, bridge, 2 ropeman 1's, tether, two extra linemans belts and one extra tether, and back recliner is 9lbs 7ozs. This also includes gear holders, and extra carabiners, etc.
Pack 4lbs 8ozs.
75' DRT predator rope: 4lbs 14ozs
treehopper with 10 carbon rods, 3 titanium rods and 5 grade 8 rods are 2lbs 6ozs.
Yates big wall +2 ropes system 2lb 8ozs
One muddy pro stick and aider is 3lbs 12ozs
30 ounces of water is 2lbs
food is 8ozs
kill kit 1lb 1oz
knee pad 8ozs
saw/pruners 15ozs
When I added everything that I'm carrying with bow included (minus the clothes, boots, undewear, cold weather gear, mid season gear, etc, etc, etc,) I'm at 32lbs. When I say everything I am adding up all my climbing systems, pack, etc.
So here is my saddle: Kestrel Flex, heavy duty suspenders (I lack a butt so it kept falling down), 2 kifaru pouches, one sys pouch, one back band, one gear holder with three hero clips, one tether, one backup tether/linemans webbing, one lineman's belt, one doyles gear hoist, and a couple of carabiners. This all can fit in my pack.
Pack: kill kit, saw, pruners, water, food, knee pads, DRT rope, 1 muddy pro.
All this is 23.75lbs. I can reduce that to under 20lbs if I only carry one climbing system...however I usually like to carry two just in case I have to have an alternate and go to a preset location.
