Hoyt or Bowtech?

I say try them both. Even if you have to drive a good way. I sold my high country supreme back in the early 2000s and haven’t had a bow I liked as much since. We’re talking 40 inch axle to axle short brace height, 3 inch overdraw chunking 26” arrows at about 260 FPS. I should have kept the bow and bought a rangefinder instead. I don’t know that I will ever shoot another 40” compound but may consider a 36-38” bow for my next one.

I have either a Supreme or Safari, overdraw and all (can't remember which) sitting in my closet. :tonguewink:

Got a Hoyt Powermax 4 years ago after accidentally running over my old school PSE after an evening hunt. I love it. The big thing to keep in mind is "know your driving distance to your nearest Hoyt dealer" since non-Hoyt dealers wont (or shouldnt) touch it due to voiding the warranty. The only thing I dont like about Hoyt is you practically wont be able to find a sight light. If you can overlook that, I think you'll love it too.

How do you figure you cant get a sight light on a Hoyt bow? I have one on my HHA.......

I really like my Bowtech RealmX. I also have a Vertix.

The Vertix is the quietest and most dead in the hand bow I have ever shot. The draw cycle is not nearly as nice as the RealmX in comfort though and roughly the same speed (RealmX at 30" DL setting runs the same DL as the Vertix with 29.5" DL mods)

If you can find me a dealer that sells them, please PM me. It seems like Hoyt corporate's response is "contact a dealer". I can never seem to find a place that sells them and after market sight lights always seem to conveniently have a different thread size. I've resigned myself that not having a sight light isnt the end of the world so I'm not going to waste any more of my time searching for one.

You cant go wrong either way... I have a bowtech realm and its the bow I ever shot... that is untill I shot the rx3 ultra by hoyt. Carbon isnt cold in hand like aluminum... big deal for me.

I was looking for a new bow this year since the one I have been using is finally showing signs of wear. After 15 years and many deer it's time. I don't need anything crazy top end but something decent. I like the "HOYT PowerMax" or the "BOWTECH Carbon Icon". I thought I would post something out here to see what feedback anyone might have for a good budget bow. Thank you!
I shot every high end bow out there...the Bowtech Realm X was the deadest in my hand, and the draw cycle was the most comfortable. It's a tack driver. I waited 20 years to replace my Hoyt...and I suspect I'll go another twenty yrs with this bow. All in all though Bowtech has a great line up...they are price.eee but if your like me and dont need the nxt best design every year..I would say try the Bowtech for feel..there is absolutly no vibration when you shoot...its an amazing Bow
Good luck

I know this isn't one of the original choices, but consider a Prime. Mine is SWEEEEEET!!!

I agree I’ve owned Mathews, Hoyt, bowtech and now I bought a prime CT3 and it is the best shooting bow I’ve owned.
