Hunting Hoody

I know this is an older post but the Stratus jacket is probably the closest. The Stratus is a great outer layer down to around 30F. I’ve worn it in the mid 20’s but really prefer the Fanatic jacket and bibs when it’s that cold.

The Stratus has a removable hood that connects with 4 snaps. I usually ditch the hood and wear the incinerator hat.

If it had a kangaroo pouch and wasn’t a jacket it would be a contender.

Am I the only one that hates that sitka pattern? I picked my cousin off sitting on the mountain side a mile away. It’s blue. I know it’s designed for hunting from a tree blah blah blah but come on. I would rather have a solid color.

I'm unsure of a couple of their patterns, but I like Open Country in the treestand. Unfortunately, most the pieces I prefer aren't offered in that pattern.

Also, I have had Optifade forest and EVII Stratus and Fanatic jackets, and have been using the old forest line exclusively because I like the fleece lining better.

To me, I'm going with what functions best....otherwise I'd be in, ahem, Scentlok.

I like the jacket part but definitely agree, the pouch on the fanatic is really nice. I’d be willing to bet the next Stratus version will have a pouch.

Cue the Fanatic Vest and Celsius Shacket. Such curiosities. I always wonder if I had them, would they get use or sit in a bin.

I enjoy the Fanatic's pouch, especially when hunting from a hang on. I prefer a handmuff when in the saddle though.

Been looking for the same thing, regardless of whether it’s saddle-focused. The features I want are:
1. Very quiet
2. Light absorbing (like fleece or wool)
3. Warm
4. Good camo (Sitka or FL patterns, not mimicry camo)
5. Quarter-zip
6. Kangaroo pocket
7. Articulated hood
8. Stretchy fabric
9. Wind-resistant (at least)
10. Tapered sleeves

The Celsius Shacket is discontinued.

I own a Fanatic vest and for me, it just sits in a bin. I’ve worn it once or twice and it’s a really cool piece but I usually transition from Stratus directly to the Fanatic Jacket if layering with the Stratus won’t be enough.

This is precisely why I got rid of my fanatic vest. Loved it, but it just sat there.

Natural gear has this covered don’t they?

Doesn't look like it's windproof which would be my knock.

I've been on a very similar search and have yet to find what I'm looking for. If Sitka would make the Fanatic Lite with wind stopper, I'm sure that would work. I'd love a hoodie with very similar features. Almost a crossover between a softshell and an insulation piece. Heck, I'd love a soft-shell with what I want and not have the hoodie pocket. I have the fanatic hoodie and it's way too trim to be an outer layer. I do use the hood often (surprisingly so). I've had the stratus and sold it. I can't stand the soft face fleece. It picks up burrs, etc and for a soft face is loud in my opinion. I don't even care about a pattern at all. I want a hard face fleece soft-shell with windstopper or a hoodie with windstopper that is hard face so stuff can brush off of it easier. Light absorbing is great, articulated arms, etc. Anything I can find is not wind stopper.

I just tried the Thlete Phantom and sent it back. It didn't fit me well for some reason and was extremely loud. I've been looking at the Pnuma Waypoint, but unsure of that one. First Lite Catalyst isn't wind proof, nor are many others. Wish I could find what I'm looking for.

This is what I have and it felt pretty good when I was out in the wind in it. I wore it quit a bit this year by it's self down to about 30 when it was windy and felt pretty warm.
Nice thing about Scheels is they will let you return something you are not happy with. By the way I'm from north west Wisconson.
