I can't believe no one is talking about this climbing method...

I used them last season. To be honest I’m torn this season weather to use them as a preset or mobile hunting.

The hot pink ones make it easier to find for afternoon climbs, but you have to remember to hang the pinks ones as your 3 or 4 set.

At 6’”4, 275 and size 13 shoes I found it sometimes a little challenging to maneuver on the steps, especially at the -25 temps I hunt.

I’m experimenting using a diy rope mod with Amsteel and think the weight savings will be impactful…

As far as packability is concerned, what I have found works best is I strap 4 on each leg (two on the thigh and two on the calf), and then three on each arm. This gets me to my hunting height of about 8ft.

I’ll attach pics as soon as I figure out how to get out of this straight jacket.

I’ve added videos to my YouTube channel
Ww.waytoomuchtimeonmyhands.com

Ps of there are any people that have Carbon experience, I have some crayon drawings / plans so could test making some carbon fiber versions.

EDIT: in the cases where I need to get a little extra height, I’ve drilled a hole in an extra step, allowing me to super glue my headlamp into to. I’m calling it the GIMHLM (pronounced “Gimmel”) - (G)lue (I)n (M)y (H)ead(L)amp mod. Patent Pending

Update:

I’m experimenting with what I call “one-stepping”

Looping an amsteel three step aider (see my YouTube channel on how to make one) and don’t forget to subscribe (wink wink)

So using an amsteel aider with my 3 bridge modded, a three step aided with an aider-knaider combo I’ve managed to climb to hunting height on a loose bark tree

More video to follow

PS - if anyone is in the Glendale Falls region, could you swing with a ladder? I packed lunch and some water, so no rush.

We were poor growing up and had to use limbs and stuff to climb. My sister was an absolute monkey and I almost killed myself many times to get one limb higher than her. (couldn't be outdone by no girl in them days.)
Oh, absolutely, as a kid I climbed huge magnolia trees and only stopped climbing when the main trunk of the tree started bending nearly horizontal under my puny weight. I had to be at least 40 feet up there. We also build tree houses with 2x4's, nailing them to the hackberry trees as we went up with 16 penny nails. Some of those roosts were 20 to 25 feet up. If there was a tree with a limb I could reach that meant the tree was safe to climb, lol.
