If you were going to order a ultimate one stick from EWO. You would order _ _ _

Lol. I'll will give it an honest try more than once. What I paid for it, I will have to absolutely hate it to sell it right away.
Give it some time. The first day I climbed with mine I was thinking “man I just waisted a lot of money” lol. Second and third days, it was better but I was sweating a lot. By the fourth and fifth days it was just a relaxing climb. Just have to get your process down and don’t try to stretch every inch out of each move. Easier to just make one more leisurely move. Good luck!

My EWO one stick arrives today as well. They must’ve been waiting one one specific part before a big batch of these were shipped out.

X2 on this. I am in shape for my age and used to be fairly athletic. However, my first few trips up the tree were absolute struggle-fests! I thought something was wrong with me. But like 2Sloe said, it slowly got better. By end of the first week I can almost do it without sweating. But after days one and two I was honestly about to give up! So stick with it.

Edit- I also started with a 12 inch and moved to a 15 inch and that made a lot of difference in not hitting my shins on the platform.

I've got a EWO 1sticking setup for sale in classifieds *wink wink*

I can absolutely check that for you when I get home from work later today.

Here is the pictures of the flat monarch, I was to lazy to put it on a tree so against the wall will have to do for now. Looks like it’s a true 6” by 9-7/8” and is just shy of 8” from wall.

Many thanks. Defiantly sized as advertised. The wall shows plenty about the extra toe space to expect as well. To me this looks to perform very much like the Predator, in a climbing package. Nice kit. I don't need this, at all, but have all the other pieces to make a setup like yours sitting around so I'm quite tempted to pick one up.

I say it is quite comparable to the pred platform. I did it originally with beast standoffs and the monarch was just about touching the tree. Ewo standoffs make all the difference

So my EWO one stick arrived yesterday and I tried it out first thing this morning.

Very happy with 15" stick and 15" 3 step aider.

I went up and down at least 10 times. Only thing I think I struggled with was reaching down to undo the stick. I dropped it once. I need to try some different methods for grabbing and releasing it.

It's funny - I think any reservation about changing trees mid hunt is gone. I might do it just for fun now lol.

I put a Nite Eze gear tie on mine because the factory wire was too short. I flip the Amsteel rope a little higher on the back of the tree as shown by the red arrow in the photo and then set the stick. This is what I do. Not telling you this is what you should do. This is probably not quite as safe as positioning the rope almost perpendicular to the stick around the tree as shown by the yellow arrow in the photo. With the rope higher on the back of the tree when you lift the stick it comes up higher and it is easier to reach the cleat so you gently release the rope from the cleat without the “ping”. On my last move, I set the rope like the yellow arrow and then set the stick. I am also very diligent about keeping the slack out of my tether to the max extent possible. Also, practice the Munter Hitch so you can still rappel down if your drop your Mad Rock. Good Luck!

I wedged one of these nite ize ties through the hole in my UP. Took a while but it's solid in there. It's great because I can wrap it up when I'm not climbing.

^^^ I like how tidy you have your aider and rope wrapped up. ;)
Haha thanks. There's very few things in life that I consciously like neat and tidy. My climbing stuff happens to be one of them.

Should have seen me try and wrap up my daisy chain and two step aider on my old stick. It'd take me a while sometimes because I'd always try and have it symmetrical

I have three different one-sticks and each one is totally different to get wrapped up nicely.
My newest one i still haven't gotten it figured out yet. :unamused:

So I will probably switch to the gear tie as well but the issue I was having isn't reaching the wire to pull it up. I was having trouble reaching down with my other hand to hold the wire while I popped the cam cleat. I tried doing it all with one hand and felt really close to dropping it several times.

going to try to find some videos today of how others are doing it.

With my stick last year I'd hook part of it with my foot to start the lift. That could help get a better grip. You could also tie a big enough paracord loop through the loop in the gear tie that's big enough that you'd be able to get a finger, even if gloved, hooked in. That way you'd be sure of not dropping it.

I figure with me being part monkey and having long arms and the gear tie being so long that I won't have a problem grabbing it securely.

Are you throwing the rope over the top step/platform after you fasten it in the cam cleat?

I forgot to do that the other day and the reach for the rope was the trickiest part for me due to not looping it over.

yes, but if I'm not holding the pull up wire with another hand it would just drop and hang from the rope when the cleat releases. I think I just need more practice. overall very happy with it and it was easier overall than I imagined.

The problem is... When I break out my saddle gear, there is a 6yr old boy who want to swing from the tree. And my 8 year old wanted to as well. So I had to set some ropes in the tree and the. Like to swing around the tree at ground level in there harness. Great that they do it. But cuts down on the time I have to mess around with my one sticking. I did get one move in. Wasn't to bad. Playing with bridge options and how I want to rapell out still. Gotta get one of those washers.
