Input needed, looking at light hang ons for all day sits

I don't hunt public so I screw a small bow hanger in above stand location. Tie a pc of paracord to the stand corner. Pull stand up & hook on bow hanger. Hands free to attach straps.

Do you use something like the Lone Wolf EZ hang then?

The lone wolf EZ hang hook was the most elegant design for hanging stand. Added an ounce, and allowed same concept as the M7. And Chippewa.

You typically needed the lower strap though, which sounds like is getting used most times anyway.

I had a XOP Vanish. It has a nice seat but I went back to my saddle and steps. I just don't like trying to hang a hang on stand at all. I also feel that all the hang ons have the seat too low for me. So I'm sticking to the saddle or a Summit.

It was pretty good. Someone gave me a Tree Stand Buddy kit as gift, but it never got used because of the EZ hooks. Still have it NIB.

Genisis has that Strap Stager. I wonder how that would work out.

Don't think @enkriss likes his but I love mine. Use it every single hunt. Fantastic product

You can also use a cam buckle strap Novix/LW etc with a quick EZ hook from Novix and just put a small loop hanging off a stand. Drop that into the hook. Now stand is hanging hands free, strap on Versa button and lightly tighten stand to tree. Remove strap with hook that was holding the tree and use that strap for bottom Versa button. I’ve had the M7 since it came out many years ago, biggest problem is that platform does not level also the bracket receiver has a few draw backs.

Now that I recall…. It might work okay on the beast stand since the post is closer to the but I couldn’t get it so there was enough loop to go around the button on my 1.0

I use to do the paracord loop from the offset bracket to EZhang hook a long time ago with my alpha. Forgot all about that. Thanks for the reminder.

Out of curiosity, why do you stay in a single blind/tree/spot all day? It seems to me that habits in the morning and evening don’t tend to be ideal for the same spots. I’d think spending 4 hours in one, moving to a different spot over an hour or so, and then spending another 4 hours in a spot would be more productive while giving the body a break from a single position. I’m not one to do all day sits though and tend to head in for lunch and to play with the kids while my wife gets a breather so I may be missing something experienced all day people know.
I dont really understand it either. I always move. I have morning spots and afternoon spots. Deer arent always predictable but for the most part i know if they are going in or out and my tree is picked accordingly. also the thermals and wind (sometimes) will change and i want the sun at my back ideally. or maybe those are all my excuses for getting bored.
I know the rut is different if your set up somewhere bucks are coming by at any point to scent check but for the rest of the season it seems like unnecessary torture. there is no stand or saddle i have tried that is comfortable for more than 6-8 hrs. even hanging in my old 88 suburban seat would start to get annoying (R.I.P Bertha) although this really got my brain spinning for a permanent stand. and no, i have not come to the light the jx3 light yet. maybe thats my answer!

I have been hunting out of a saddle this year and love it, mostly public land and certainly a mobile hunter.
As the rut is heating up here in TN, I’m considering getting a light hang on to use with my sticks and saddle for next year.

I’ve adjusted my saddle endlessly and love it for 4-6 hrs but just can’t seem to get comfortable for more than 6/7 hrs.
With that said, what are your favorite light hang ons? I’d use it as a hybrid, still hunting in my saddle but turning around and sitting some.

I carry my current platform in the load shelf of my mystery ranch popup 28…bonus points if said lock on could also fit in there when I’m not carrying my platform.
Thanks for any input

another option is to consider why your saddle is not comfortable for all day sits and then address that with adjustments or a different saddle

my saddles (woods hunting deluxe and cruzr xc) are both more comfortable for me for all day sits, especially mental comfort...being stuck on a little platform in just sitting or standing positions would start to drive me stir crazy after 8 hours or so

The old lone wolf assault and original sandcast stands are pretty light and pack up nice and flat. The original needs a strap for the bottom if your using it as a platform and leaning around on it. Sometimes you can find em cheap on eBay. I got one for 80 bucks shipped to chop up but liked it so much I kept it and use it for closer spots. Weighs about 9 lbs I think. Not as comfy as a loc-on seat but I switch back and forth sitting in my saddle. Just another piece of history ill have forever too. Picking up a loc-on with ten Cranford steps for $40 Sunday. Always check Craigslist and Facebook and eBay. Some people don't know what they're selling and u can get good deals on classics

Yeah I still would like to figure out if I’m missing something with adjustments. I have a Cruzr XC and predator XL platform.
My biggest issue has been hip pinch. I have tried lengthening my bridge almost all the way, different tether heights, and have adjusted where the actual bridge attaches. Maybe I still just need to find the sweet spot.
Again I’m comfortable for a few hrs, but by hr 5 I’m getting pretty uncomfortable.
Would love to hear your tips if you have any.

Yeah deer hunting is quite different in different areas, again I’m just going based off the data (my sits, my cameras) and the hunters I’ve learned from rather than what I think the deer “should” be doing.
Around here, all bets are off during the rut and anything can happen at any time in a good spot.

I don't know how old you are, but I'm in my 40s and have to for the first time be a bit mindful of hip joint health.

I got an uncomfortable feeling in my hip the other day in the saddle because I'm a side sleeper and had my knees pulled too far towards my chest the night before sleeping. If you side sleep, then keep your legs as close to straight as possible (and a pillow between knees) helps not to strain your hips.

So, I guess I'm getting at: could it be an underlying health issue that makes your hips particularly susceptible?

Also, I always go up a size in saddles because I'm usually on the border. I wear 34 waist pants and have a size 2 in the Cruzr XC.

Come to the light................

I feel like the Novix Helo is pretty hard to beat, even at the more recent higher price. (I jumped on them and got mine right when they came out and was on sale for $204.) It’s not the lightest stand compared to the high dollar ones but it is rock solid, no flex (I’m 170-175lbs), dead quiet.

I’ve never used it as a saddle platform where I put pressure on the side, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work especially if you're using both straps on the stand. Just be careful of stepping over the cables and I would still try to put my feet close to the tree if possible.

X2 on the Novix Helo

Get a JX3 hybrid. Cheaper and more comfortable.

That said, any light hangon can be attached to the popup. Id personally remove the bag, strap the stand to the popup frame, and then attach the popup bag, or whatever bag, over top. Don’t try to leave the popup bag attached with bottom load shelf lashing straps and stick stand in there.

You want stand against back, then all your goodies on top of that. Doing this in load shelf will be annoying and make the stand too high behind you.

I agree with kyler1945 I tried the hang on and saddle set ups.. I found myself getting in trees that I could have saddle hunted out of much easier than trying to get a hang on in.

That being said I use a normal saddle 75% of the times. But if I’m going into a preset tree or a all day set I take the jx3
