I find this any many other hunting sites very informative for hunters looking for new ideas, advice, etc... It's really helpful to look at the title of a particular thread, review the comments and be able to make educated decisions based on the content. Many of the comments in these posts are completely irrelevant to the topic at hand. For example, when I saw the thread, "Official Predator Platform review thread!!", I thought it is a great idea. The problem is all of the off topic comments end up making these posts much longer than they need to be. The comments about the shoes, legs, Air Conditioning, the list will go on and on I'm sure. In some cases you may have to look through 174+ pages of crap (each page has 20 postings) to find the information you are looking for. See the, "a Secret" thread. I like to have fun just as much as the next guy, but maybe someone could start a thread with nothing but off topic "joking". Does any one else agree that these "off topic" comments do nothing to help this site?

Haha I'm kidding. It is frustrating sometimes, but honestly, the devil's in the details. For me at least, knowing a little about the guy coming up with the idea or modification or advice helps me process it effectively and judge how it helps me. If you're looking for black and white, simple things, saddle hunting is not for you. What makes the system work for each individual is quite different.

WHere I will agree with you is that we could use some more sticky's and lock them once the relevant information has been explained.

I love the ideas about the modifications and ideas that come from all of these creative people. These simple ideas can make all the difference in the world. Those ideas are GOLDEN!

Guys on this forum actually get along and have fun together- don’t want to take that away or stifle that camaraderie. It does mean skipping through a lot of posts if that’s annoying to you but threads like a secret have a life of their own as people await deliveries. The old Kestrel threads were the same the year before. Let guys have fun I say. It’s an awesome group. Get yourself to SaddlePalooza and see for yourself It will explain a lot of the banter.

I'll take jokes all day over name calling, self proclaimed "experts", arguments, and general archerytalk vibe.

Any information channel has a lot of static. What really bugs me is reading the same darn magazine every friggin' year. Same stories, same jokes, same "advice", just a different year on the cover!

I think that there's an awesome amount of info here that you just won't find elsewhere. New and original ideas all the time. There's a lot of in jokes, but nobody here shuns new guys.

But there's always room for improvement. Maybe we should start a thread on fixed vs expandable heads. I don't think anybody has really covered that one...

;)

Instead of the arguing and complaining that goes on with many other sites, this group of guys gets along good.

The joking is good-hearted fun.

Guys here are willing to go out of their way to help each other & new guys without acting high & mighty.

It’s kind of like in my fire dept. The crews that can eat together, work out together & can joke around are stronger crews that get the job done more efficiently because they have formed a brotherhood.

Certain threads do get crazy tho, but the info will usually be spread over multiple threads anyway. Guys just accept it, laugh their butts off & then get serious again.

Info can be found by using the Search function. It can be a hunt to find all the bits and pieces of info tho.

Feel free to post what info ur looking for or PM guys.

PM me and I’ll help find answers or can get u on the phone & run thru stuff verbally.

Also we shouldn’t be to hard on him because he is sincerely trying to learn & there is a pretty big learning curve with all the info on here.

I can see his reason for frustration.

Once the basic understanding is there & inside jokes understood then he can both LAUGH & LEARN with the rest of us.

Thanks @Tapeworm , I didn't think anyone was hard on me or rude with their responses. I truly find these jokes just as funny as the next guy. Thanks for all of your responses. I'll behave. :)

I agree with everything said. You won’t find another site like this one. As stated guys are willing to help. Just post up your questions if you have a hard time finding answers. You will either be directed to the answer or get direct help. Those questions will help others too!

Don’t worry about behaving. It’s just blowing off some steam. No big deal.

I only put that cuz most responses will be “Yes the joking is necessary & it is only u “ which definitely could put a bad taste in ur mouth.

This is the best group of helpful guys that I’ve dealt with. This & the Hunting Beast are the only forums that I get involved with.

I want u to be around long enough to think the same for yourself.

Just the nature of the beast. If you think this is bad go read some of the threads in the bowhunting forum on ArcheryTalk.

If it wasn’t for the off topic comments, I wouldn’t be here. It is a community, not “Instructables”

That means inside jokes, nagging, picking on each other, distractions.... but it also keeps the innovators interested enough to be a part of it all. Instead of doing it themselves and never getting online to share it for the benefit of other people.
