It's just...a little crush... - Review of the JX3 Hybrid Saddle

After you see the JX3 you will see you won’t need any additional safety measures the Jx3 seems to be really well thought out piece of gear
I think any additional harness would actually get in the way and make it uncomfortable. You would be sitting on straps and Walmart ever instead of the seat.

2x. You will not need any thing else. You will not even need a pack

How will you not need a pack? Won’t your stuff fall on the ground when you unfold it?

My sticks are attached to the outside and my extra clothes are stuffed between the seat and frame and I have most things in my pockets because it is usually cold here and I have lots of pockets and everything else is in a very light homemade fleece bag that goes between the seat and frame. I have no camera gear so that is a bonus.
The seat and frame really squeezes stuff so I have never had anything fall out. I suppose if you wanted to put a small light pack between the seat and frame you could.
And yes when i get to the tree it will fall out unless I set it on the ground first. Even a pack will fall out. I have never carried a pack with the JX3 . Unless you call a small fleece bag a pack.

I have wondered about attaching the front of the turkey vest to the Jx 3 so everything is super handy. A use a turkey vest when I use a kestrel or mantis to hunt.

I think I’m going to Attach bags along the back for to carry a few things. The JX3 is pretty impressive for sure. Just sone of the things people are saying seem far fetched.
You will have to have some way to carry things. Laying all my stuff on the ground then climbing is a no go. I stop at the tree swing my sticks around and head up the tree. I’m already a sweaty mess and I’m trying to get elevated quickly

I guess I will figure it out

Seems like you could attach stick talons or similar to the seat frame or molle frame. Having hard parts and webbing there is just so much you can do to customize.

Yes it seems like it.

I was impressed with the JX 3 at the rendezvous. It is as comfortable as my Summit Climber at less than half weight. For those using the Lone Wolf Hand Climber as their climbing method it will take a little more practice than a standard saddle since it is designed for sitting more than leaning. I think I will be wearing my Rock climbing harness to make it easier to raise the foot climber. It is super light and I wear it in my Summit currently and there is zero pressure points and I would expect the same for the JX 3.

I think the JX 3 will definitely function as a pack to carry extra clothing as well as the Lone Wolf Hand climber. I would love to see some slide on hip pads made available to add as an option to make it more comfortable for handling the weight of a bear head/hide or deer quarters. I am on the wait list and am looking forward to receiving!

What do you do, use bolts on private and WE Stepps on public?
What do you think is faster?
I’m not a fan of drilling and hunting. Pre drilling is great.

I usually take my Jx 3 off to put bibs and coat on. It is usually cold when I walk in .. Stuff does not fall all over the ground because it all has a place. Also I have one bad shoulder and have trouble reaching over my head to release the straps on the JX 3 without taking it off. I climb with the seat hanging.
I do love the @PJC video and will incorporate some of what he does into my use of the JX 3

I have to figure out how to release my seat after I climb with my shoulder issues. My method is not the greatest and needs improved.

I have shoulder problem also. I just get to the tree , take it off, pull my sticks out. Then make sure those top 2 straps are unbuckled, then climb up. When I get to height I reach behind at waist level & give the seat a nudge up & it unhooks , my hand controls the decent so it’s not swinging around..... are you reaching over your head to unbuckle/unhook or doing it like me & that behind the waist motion aggravates your shoulder??

I"m keeping tuned to this thread...I really liked my guidos last year and am deciding if I get on this list or not. Might give the guidos another year to get my system dialed in first.

So John sent me this response and solution to my problem of releasing the JX 3 with bad shoulders... from hockey and work. . What good service.
He likely read my very recent post and here is what he said.

Here is what John suggested.

Hello my Canadian friend
I am sending you a picture of the adjustment rope I made for keeping the seat up when packing gear in one hand release and adjustable
The loop end goes over the fork and the small hook end has a Prusik knot for adjustment and hooks on the pack frame behind your head and I hang the tag end of the rope over my shoulder for easy access
And it can be used as a gear hanger when looped around the tree
Hope this makes sense

A second text
Yes just hang the loop end over the fork adjust the paracord Prusik with the small hook to the pack frame and pull the tag end of the rope to release the hook and the seat swings down and when you sit down you take the rope off the tree fork
If I get a chance I'll send more pictures of it hooked up

The Hybrid is a big step up from the guidos. You should see if you can try one somewhere... If you are ever near Goderich, Ontario...

How viable is 1-sticking with the JX3? I have no experience with 1-sticking but I'm trying to think of ways to mitigate the weight of the saddle by reducing climbing system weight on public land.
