It's just...a little crush... - Review of the JX3 Hybrid Saddle

The tan colored ones you have run through the back of the hybrid
You talking about the straps I added?

I bought side releasebuckles and used a couple pieces of webbing I had laying around. You can buy that stuff many places, strapworks seems to be the go to.

So I am in a beech tree in my hybrid with no platform standing on a stick. Do I need anything else to stand on. An extra step or two on a large tree maybe would be nice. Otherwise no.
It is almost as easy to climb the tree as a mantis with a back pack And much better than the old guidos

If you want the comfort of a climber and no pack and super easy to carry and no hip pinch and easy packing of sticks this is a great stand
I used to use my Web on 20% of my sits. This will be much higher

Y'all are killing me. My wife is going to beat me with a stick if she catches me looking at this thing.

I sold a bunch of stuff to buy two new saddles Take the beating. Your hips will hurt less with this hybrid and your back will like carrying it after you recover from your beating.

Christmas is coming dear so you tell her.

I've sold some goodies already to fund my Windwalker project (thread forthcoming). I still may though.

As a young buck, my hips and back don't concern her a bit. She's a mean one. ;)

You say "Is it as easy to climb the tree with as a mantis. No. But much better than the old guidos".

How does it compare to climbing the tree with the mantis AND a backpack? I have the original guido but hated to climb with the seat down a the metal thingy hitting and sticking in my boot.

I am very interested in this new hybrid, but like Nutterbuster I may have to hide for a while.

I wrote it with my big thumbs in a smaller iPhone. I meant almost as easy as a mantis. And really not any different imo than a mantis with a backpack on
A mantis alone is hard to beat when climbing.

That said since I started using the hybrid I have not picked up my kestrel and have used my mantis once

I have used the hybrid 4 times since I got it

with this hybrid, it looks like your best bet is sitting down, or even that you may be limited to that.

How does that feel on your knees? with me leaning against a tree, even having knee pads on, can be pretty uncomfortable. Mainly bc of the need to always keep them together. They naturally want to kick out and go around the tree.

What are your findings on this matter?

The Hybrid has a built in stand off. Your knees don’t touch the tree. From the videos posted on it, you can use the stand off to pivot left or right as you want to help with the shot. If you need to stand to shoot the seat drops back.

I hope to chime in about the Hybrid soon. I should have one on my doorstep in about a week. It’s basically a souped up store bought version of my homemade stand of 30 years. It’s stitching and wear caused me to hang it up and gravitate to this site and begin an education in ropes and saddles. Thanks to the member who spread the word weeks ago about this new version in the works and the need to get on “the list.” Glad I did.

I'm terrible at self filming, and I keeps it real no edit.

Hopefully it still gets you as jazzed as I am.
This thing is awesome. Good video, I was waiting for someone to walk by on the sidewalke wth a dog or something and be liek...what the helll.

You'll even be able to pack out shoulders efficiently with it!

Kyler, how did you get your Doyles gear hoist to not slide back and forth on that bottom webbing? I hooked mine on right where you did, but it wants to slide back and forth on the webbing. Let me know when you get a chance, would like to hear what you used.

Wrapped camo form right next to where I wanted it. Do it really tight. The tape won’t move if you get it right, and several wraps creates a stop so it doesn’t slide. Speaking of, I’m in a tree, and forgot my hoist. Ordered a second to LEAVE on the hybrid. I got it up with a rubber niteize gear tie on back of the setup. Worked fine actually.
