I forget the name of it but it keeps the tether from coming loose and sliding down the tree if you stand up

A tennis ball will work as well. With a sharp knife cut the ball in half, then cut a small X in the half you are going to use. You want it to be snug on the rope when you pull it through. Works great for synching the tether to the tree.
