THIS!!!

I wonder if you removed the other 2 teeth on each side would allow it to flex freely without making the teeth move. Flexing is fine, the teeth moving on the bark and making noise isn't. The Predator flexes as well, but due to it's smaller dimensions and them making it taper some, they controls the flex and keep it away from the teeth.
I ground the teeth on mine down to a point.

Ok I confess, I asked about my order as they continue to take orders with a " two wk" lead time.
It's been two and a half weeks and they just let me know it will be up to three weeks more.
Ok, it's not hunting season but change the website to reflect what is or just remove the lead time.

Agreed. That’s the point I was trying to make previously

I have one of the original 150. I was in the same boat as most concerning build quality. New post is en route so I’m very interested to see how that update goes. I personally wanted a platform with more room especially for late season. Since owning the Ambush, with all the quality control issues aside, I have drawn one major conclusion and that is it bends-a lot. As platform size increases so does leverage. I believe after owning this a couple of months and putting it through its paces-that is the cause of some of the noise, squeaking, creaking, and popping. Interestingly enough I took an old LW Assault 2 and DIYed it into a platform and I had the same issues when the cables were removed. When cables were put back on it became a solid stand again. Since cables on a platform are, perhaps, not practical for saddle hunting I think the design of a larger platform needs to change if it’s going to be viable. I just don’t think you can make a larger platform in the image of smaller platforms unless the were a little heftier in design. I have the Predator and Ridge Runner as well. I honestly think those are the best two platforms out currently. Just my opinion.

I wanted one of these from the release but didn’t buy one and waited to see reviews. I ended up finding an assassin and purchased it. I then got impatient and trigger happy and picked up a used ambush.. My experience is much like yours.

Predator - super solid, compact, no complaints other than wanting a bigger platform.

Diy a lone wolf alpha platform- I cut one down and tried to diy an assassin tons of flex not going to work at 250lbs promptly sold pieces and parts

Lone wolf assassin - super solid in a tree, nice amount of room does not pack as nice as the ambush. The assassin has more built in angles so it does not ride flat on your back. However it’s much thicker than the ambush. No flex

Ambush- bought it took it outside experienced the flexing popping every talks about sold it. It does pack extremely well on your back and I love the lwcg mini sticks and how well that system works together. I know the push is for light weight but I hope they get this platform right I would definitely be willing to pack a slightly heavier platform if it helped the rigidity. A slightly heavier ambush would still prolly be a wash weight wise since u can ditch the pack.

At this point my system will be mystery ranch pop up 18 with the assassin or predator depending on length of hunt or where I’m going. I mostly run bolts. But I’d like to set up a predator pack with the lwcg minis like was posted in the predator pack mods.

I very much agree with you-Would love to find an assassin! I get counting the ounces and very good things have come out of pushing the limits but most times they’re diminishing returns. We are getting what we want and then wonder why they fall short and when they do fall short we tend to be quick to slam the companies that are giving us what we want. Would be nice to have a happy medium between robust and light.

I emailed Lw and said how some of the other mfgs have started to offer bigger platforms and how they should consider a reissue of the assassin or beefier ambush. They said thanks for the input but not going to happen.
When it comes to saddle platforms there is two things on the LW menu, take it or leave it.
I'm glad to see OOAL striving to make good products. I hope they hit one out ok of the park.
Assassin knock off?.. I'm in.

Yeah, I'd imagine they're probably sick of platforms and saddle hunters by now. We're some choosie little princesses. My Pearl beer swigging, nighttime spotlighting, buck knife toting, work clothes wearing grwndpappy would be ashamed of my weight weenie ways and my goofy camo.

That’s why I’m really digging the assassin, it’s rock solid and plenty of room I feel it’s worth the penalty of a few extra pounds. It fits well in the pop up on the meat shelf.

If I’m really worried about weight I will take the predator. The pop up swallows it up.

I don’t think LW plans on making any new platforms or stands. They probably plan on riding out Andres designs till they fold or sell the company back to Andre....lol

I have Personally talk to Andre due to some issue with the mini sticks. They are in the process of moving factories to a new one. I have had a issue with 2 sets of LWCG Mini sticks but Andre has been great. I know as of a couple days ago they had 50 orders of sticks going out from the old Factory, but think he is recalling them. The ambush is in the same boat as the minis. Im looking forward to getting my new sticks and using them. I know its frustrating but give me a little time I know its going to be worth it.

That’s probably true but to our credit they partnered with someone who hunts different than 95 percent of saddle hunters. While we can be choosie, it’s only because we know what we want and have high standards.

All of the teeth or just the outer ones? Did it stop the teeth from squeaking against the tree?
All of them. Still putting it thru it's paces. I did kill a deer from it from my 12 o'clock and the platform didn't make any noise. I want to get the new post put on and do some more testing. In my opinion it does seem to have helped though.

Please keep us posted on all further testing. Thinking about doing the same.

What issues have you had with the Mini sticks? I bought a set toward the end of last year and am now concerned something needs to be done.

I agree and disagree. High standards, yes. Know what we want, maybe. The ambush is exactly what folks asked for: a lighter assassin. The realities of that come with some quirks we didn't expect (flex). Kinda like the Anderson in that it makes you realize the original was dang-near perfect after all. I really wanna play on an assassin.

I see 2 "breeds" of saddle hunter that trace back to 2 ancestors. 1st is John Eberhart and the screw-in/cranford rope/bolt guys. 2nd is Kuhnert and the platform/sticks crowd. Watching and listening to Eberhart made his style really click for me. Climb high, move around tree, put all your stuff in a fanny pack. It works well.

Same with Kuhnert. I was not a fan of platforms (even the ambush) until I spoke with him a few times and he explained why and how he did certain things a certain way. A larger platform, used as a frame pack and as a "hybrid" stand in conjunction with a harness that allows you to use an extremely low tether is a very good system.

I think if each company was giving away their product and had an unlimited supply on hand, a lot of guys would be choosing an ambush and some mini sticks, despite the chipped finish and "popping." Everybody who has stood on mine has liked it.

@Nutterbuster you have lost your nutterbustin mind again. We know exactly what we want. Just a 18”x20” platform that attaches via a single 1/4” amsteel rope that doesn’t flex, dead silent, and handles side pressure well. It needs to weigh less than a pound and it would be great if it would fold up and store in a cargo pocket on the way in.
Im sure we can get there. Maybe helium filled carbon fiber tubes?
