Less is more.

I agree. I tried it and ended up adding a military type chest rig to a battle belt fastened to my saddle. I can hang most of my climbing gear on this set up and carry a small sling pack for my clothes and platform.

I LOVE the basket idea that the tree hugger has, kinda like the MR treehouse, don't know how well it will actually work, but in theory, I think it's great. If it does the job I'll have to look at adding some backpack straps if it's suffering the fate you're describing.

When I started saddle hunting, I carried 3 sticks on my back and a tactical fanny pack slung over one shoulder...

When I started one-sticking, I went back to a backpack. Stick and outer coat lashed to the outside... Carries well and packs up quickly.

Tree hugger is on clearance at sierra trading post did $59 if you haven't picked one up yet.

Thanks for posting this. I was looking to buy one but didn't like the price. $60 with free shipping sealed the deal. Hope it works for me.

I've been playing with the idea of transitioning from a backpack to a fanny pack. Between the gear I carry in my sys haulers, the platform and sticks, bow etc... I feel like most everything could be covered with just a fanny pack. Any ideas? Anyone tried this, pics?
Here’s another thread on the topic you can peruse at your leisure. I posted a bunch of pic’s of the Alps Little Bear, Turkey pockets, game bag, bino holder. Lots of room, light weight and modular so you can tailor to what you need at the moment or by seasonal storage requirements. Game bag comes with the Turkey pockets and provides carry space for clothes in the late season
