Let's see them small boats!!

I had to snap a pic just for this thread. That camry is a hunting fool haha
I have loaded a silly amount of kayaks that way. Shop I used to work at was next to a dollar tree. I'd sell folks 2 cheap ratchets, and tell them to run and grab two pool noodles and meet me behind the store.

And my Accord hauled 2 deer and hog home last season. ;)

Didn’t know mmt was still alive. I don’t remember you there. You had the same name? Man we had some good times on those group rides.

probably seen some of y’all on the rides. I made a couple back in the day.

I personally wouldn't own a outboard. the longtails imo are the only way to go. the surface drives have to many points of failure as a outboard does.

Longtails are just so dang loud compared to an outboard... there ain’t no sneaking up on anything in one.

It all depends on your exhaust. I've had gotten out of my boat and jumped deer only 40 yards from the creek

The secret is to not change the rpms(aka noise level). I can ride up on one in an airboat and that’s louder than any long tail.
Nice. The ole "drive-by". I've killed lots of small game and waterfowl by walking with purpose at a tangent to them. As long as they think you're just passing through, they'll stay put.

Deception and misdirection. ;)

Unfortunately, it is illegal to harvest any animal with a bow or firearm from a boat in Texas.

That's weird. What about duckies?

In bama you can shoot so long as the vessel is "not under power" and you are not "hunting by the aid of flood waters."

So shut the motor off, drift, bang. Or if you're paddling you can shoot whenever. Another + for canoes. Gunner in front and "indian style" paddler in the stern.

Have killed a bunch of deer this way (hence the avatar). Often they'll just lay on the bank in the thick grass as you float by. It works best up here after the snow knocks down the bank grass some. It's almost like they don't expect trouble from the water. Maybe its because they lay there and watch paddlers go by without incident all summer. We also will do small one man drives of the flats where the river bends. Drop a guy upstream where the river leaves the high bank and float around until you get back to the high bank. Once set up the up stream guy still hunts through. Either he gets a shot or bumps them by the downstream guy.

When was the last time you did the impeller? Sounds like it's starting to go...

Hey man, are you some sort of outboard savant? Ya nailed it. The impeller and housing were roached. It had less than 5hrs run time on it but 3 years old. I guess low use kills them.

I did a full tune up and now it runs like a Swiss watch right to the big walleye spot.

Currently, I’m in the process of clearing 10” of snow out of her from last night...

Right on!!! I'm kinda a self made boat mechanic. I've been buying, restoring, rebuilding and reselling boats as a hobby for probably 15 years. I'm also a killer fiberglass tech :)

Alarms on smaller outboards are generally 1 of two things, oil or temp. Impeller plastic and rubber get's old and breaks down..less use means it's held in that same position in the housing and the rubber takes on that shape and gets hard. No bueno.

Glad you got it figured out and did it yourself! Now get out and enjoy the water!!!
