Just got the everloving **** busted out of me. All of a sudden I heard a deer blowing hard right behind me ( about 20 ft behind me is a 100ft wide or better river. What little wind I have is blowing toward the river.) Turned my head just in time to see white tail boucing off at full speed blowing hard.

Actually i did some reserch on this about 5 yrs ago after seeing a bowhunter kill a nice pig in Hawaii while wearing a Hawaiian shirt , what i found was that the Hawaiian shirt actually works to throw off the human outline to deer because its an open pattern , its the reason i started to change out my " busy " patterns with open ones .. Since then ive been using fusion , A.S.A.T. , & predator camo patterns mostly and ill mix em up usually.. Most times when i have deer encounters i am not seen..
I must add that i have U.V. killed all my hunting clothes including hunter orange and i am diligent with clean clothes practices. Ill wash everything in a atsco sportwash and then hang my clothes on a line outside for at least 1 rain before packing them up in a scent proof foil lined bag..

I had back cover, up at my level, didnt have front cover and didnt expect a deer to sneak between the very heavily used deer trail and the river and end up behind me. I think I got smelt more than anything.

Dont you know it they do this to me all the time. I guess when you spend 24 hrs a day 365 days a year trying to stay alive you have a little advantage over us when we only spend a few hours a day for a few months try to figure out how to kill them!!!

First sit of the year for me here in Ohio. On doe patrol going to see what this hickory creek is all about.. On a productive field corner.. haven’t been back here since I prepped the tree with bolts in the spring.. my uncle must have took a dozer through the woods as there is a big path on the little strip of woods I walk in. Someone hung a hang on 10 yards from my tree and there is a fresh pile of corn... But it will hunt we will see what kinda action. Cold front coming in tonight temps supposed to drop 10-20 degrees.

Ahh yes i see , it winded ya.. Had 2 close encounters last year that they came in wrong direction, one.of them only needed 2 more steps and i could loose my arrow but bieng soo close at 12 yrds downwind in a natural groundblind didmt work out. Scent controll only buys you some seconds and usually makes your scent seem like your further away then you are but that time that old swamp donkeys nose pegged me ; dang pressured whitetails. Plus i shouldnt eat greek yogurt during deer season cause i get ta fartin lol

Today was our opener. I was out all day, one spot for my morning set, another for the evening. It was truly a blessing to be out in the woods!! I couldn't actually do it live because I had no cell service. Saw 7 does this am, Saw 3 Bucks this pm. One was a shooter that came in on a doe but I was playing to the inside corner and should have set up facing it instead of strong side to it. They came to my weak side and got directly downwind, dang thermals didn't switch to dropping before they came in and the wind was from the WSW all day. Typically they hug the transition right around the inside corner hence my setup.
