Live from the saddle 2020

Sorry about those multiple pics and double post guys. Was in the tree and couldn’t tell if picture was coming up or posting. Terrible service there. On a brighter note though saw 9 deer total tonight. 3 bucks including the big deer I’ve been trying to get on. He came in just at dark and had to let him walk. Too dark and didn’t feel comfortable taking a shot at a deer like that without total confidence.

Great decision imho

Been in the tree since 5:40 this morning. Starting to think there might be something to that South wind discussion. I just saw my first squirrel. Oak tree is steady dropping and no one has come to check yet. On a power line today. I can see a 1/4 mile in one direction and 300 yards the other and nothing has crossed it all morning. Very weird.

Dead ash tree fell and got jammed into the multi trunks of my tree. It's not easy to tell in the photo, but the left branch of the fallen ashes about 12 feet off the ground. It was too tight of a squeeze to climb thru it and going over/around it was a little hairy. It was a little challenging getting onto my bolts. After 5 hours in the tree, I could no longer stand the thought of climbing back down around the obstructions after dark so I maneuvered down to the end of my tether with my saw and cut the branch off. This is an example of why I like a long tether (12'). It can allow safely dealing with impromptu pruning.
Emerald Ash Borer continues to be a major pain.

Sitting here singing Fred bear as I listened to it on my way to the woods today in remembrance of my late father. Now I just shot at the biggest buck I’ve seen I’ve in the woods. Just singing this song and praying to him that I got it. “he'll guide our arrows home
The restless spirit forever roams”
