Live from the saddle 2020

I had one skirt me on our opener. I threw a call in the pack. The following weekend it got his attention and he came into 50. I almost always carry a turkey call and coyote call in my pack. You never know.

Did an observation sit on a clearcut. Not very productive but the sunset was something else.
What is that thing in the sky? All I saw in NW Michigan all weekend was horizontal rain/snow. For the record, the snow was better. :tearsofjoy:

So I went hunting Friday evening for the second time this year to a new to me public land spot and got up Saturday morning itching from my waist down with hundreds of red bug bites(chiggers). Anybody have a sure cure for them? And they got all the way to the tender stuff.

Man I’ve tried it all and the only thing that has ever worked 100% is a shot from the urgent care. They will give you a steroid shot and it will cure it up.

Tuff it out.... research permethrin while u trying with all ur willpower not to pop the blisters and scratch

They got me the other weekend just from stepping out the driver door to the tailgate to change into treated clothes....+100 bites in less than 5 minutes...2-3 weeks of discomfort...

Bunch of turkeys. I realized I’ll need a turkey/coyote arrow. Forgot about that. Treble hook saved me again. Love being out.

Finger nail polish will suffocate them, just put a dab on each spot, yes it sucks but better than itching!

I'm set up for the morning. Probably 15ft up a pin oak with really good cover. I'm sitting in the corner of a field right at a fairly beat down creek crossing.

The field to the northeast is a public dove field planted with corn and sunflowers and sorghum (i think that's the third crop). All east of me is thinned pines with heavy undergrowth, to the north is like 6 year old clear-cut. Basic grassy field to the south, which is where my wind is going to.

This is a myth....maybe placebo?
It works for me every time I get them so myth or not....... The mind is a powerful thing!!! Maybe the alcohol in the nail polish helps but it has always worked for me as long as you believe!! I know chiggers don't bite and don't burrow they bore a hole and secrete a enzyme to make a people shake to slurp up but in my mind it has always worked so more power to my mind!!

It was 73 degrees on Friday when I left home and 39 degrees 3 hours later when we got to my place 200 miles north in Wolverine, MI. Rain, snow, and wind Saturday and dead calm on Sunday. As always, no deer were harmed in the process.
