Edited to add: while I wait... #1 I don't want to jump the gun and call this a success yet because I have my second tracking job ever ahead of me, but I am pumped. #2 it's amazing how much practice drives confidence, and #3 I took that shot over my bridge, "weak sided" for my first deer shot (at) out of the saddle and it wasn't as uncomfortable as it feels practicing. #4 now debating getting down sooner and not bothering for another to have daylight tracking vs sitting til dark regardless.

Thanks for the push. Being lazy because I one sticked and it's... Still more difficult than multi sticking. Off to see if it's liver or lungs. Or hopefully not guts.

Blood looks good so smell the arrow to verify you didn't hit the stomach. If it you think the arrow hit back enough to hit the liver, I would wait a few hours minimum and more likely at least four hours to let her die. Don't rush to find her! The last thing you want to do is push her farther than where she may be laying down right now. Not being patient at this point is the reason why lots of guys don't recover game.

The buck followed the shade line out in the corn. When I first saw him he had just quartered the wind. Previous to that he was traveling with it to his back. Little hook and was going with it in the sniffer.

Quiet escape. First night in a Drey. I like it except for packing it. Seems easy, looks easy, feels different at height with a linesman belt. Good hunt. Ready to do it again.

First sit of the year down. Just a glassing setup as tomorrow is the opener in GA. Bucks in the beans, hoping the storm tomorrow dies down before the afternoon.

Same spot as l saw the buck last year. Abandon treestand on dead tree still there. At end of season, I'm gonna climb to the tree next to it, cut the straps and claiming it.

Beautiful day and so happy to be in the wood.
