LIVE from the saddle 2023

Started pouring down rain after I got the 1st shoulder off so no action shots of redbeards blade . Guestimate 130-150 pound boar.

The gun is Mossberg 464 with plastic stuff instead of wood...nothing special. Real light to carry and fun to shoot. Quartering away shot entered gut and lodged in offside shoulder....shooting over the bridge at the 4oclock position all twisted up like a pretzel......he doesn't have the biggest cutter but that shield was pretty serious....easy 2" thick

No blood first 40yds and the last 20 he opened up and started bleeding good

No joy. Sign was all washed out and the dog didn’t take up tracking hardly at all. Only thing I can figure is maybe my site got knocked around with riding back and forth 6 miles on bumpy road. I’ll shoot it sometime soon and see. I ain’t trying to pout but this one particularly stings considering he was 10 yards broadside. Cheesecake shot that should have been an easy kill. Shout out to @Kenbama for all his help this weekend.View attachment 80505
Too bad you didn't have the POD.

Hello from a mild NJ. 40 degrees and light wind. It was either hunt or fish today or tomorrow. The water is still 38 degrees and I’ve got other stuff to get done tomorrow so it’s hunt tonight. First of the year and first in a month or so. Forgot my knee pads. Fought like heck to get my platform in the right place. And found that my saddle has a tear on the left hip, probably from my sticks last time out. But, I’m outside in a tree hoping for one more for on the season. Fresh dropping say they are still around here. Otherwise tonight’s the last for the season and time to put the gear away.
