LIVE from the saddle 2023

Back in the same tree I was in yesterday afternoon. It started raining right before dark yesterday and I thought I’d ease down the tree while I could barely see and slip out. I lowered my bow to the ground and was about to repel down and here comes a shooter…. Literally walks under my tree. I could’ve definitely gotten a quartering away shot off at a close distance. Seems like that’s how this season is going right now.

On another note. I gotta put some anti slip tape on this EWO one stick platform. Way to squeaky with wet boots and a wet platform.

I’m up in a ladder this am . Brought everything with me but got going a little too late. I’ve already had three bucks under me. Two with a doe and again. The doe had me pegged when I moved to stand up. It’s too quiet. The buck dogging the doe was a dink and as the doe is trying to figure me out a more dominant buck came out of nowhere. The doe switched her attention off me which enabled me to grab my bow. I was deciding on the bigger buck he wasn’t bad but I know there are other nicer bucks. He then all of a sudden wheezed at the other buck and started posturing. The wheeze was so loud and long it sounded like someone slowly letting the air out of a balloon!!! Very cool! That got me going so as he moved to broadside I drew but then the doe picked me off kind of, the wind is totally in my favor but she wasn’t happy with the movement and they shuffled off to my west. Of course the two bucks were in tow. I feel bad for the fawn!! When they just got out of sight I grunted and seconds later a spiker came right under the stand from the east heading west and went over to where the two bucks were when the bigger one wheezed out and he sniffed the ground and then made his way down over the ridge line. Debating my next moves as I’m getting pics of that breeding party on
My cam near another preset!!! It’s good to be in America boys and girls during deer season!!!

Just heard a branch crash looked over and about 50 yards downwind is a buck rubbing but more like raking at a tree and scraping then I see the doe he’s on of course they go the other way!! He was pretty decent too .

So if a deer pickee you off in the tree. How long do they remember??

She just had visual, no wind or sound. I think she just moved out because she saw the slight movement but they only went about 125 yards away. I’m not 100% but my experience has been not very long. She may not come by again today but I know she will again.

A 4pts just catch me peeing. In consider getting out of the tree and chasing him. But another spike just passed me by
 
When that little spiker went by I could hear him grunting the whole way. I could have spat on him!!

He’s rutty he won’t care that you were peeing especially if there’s estrous in the air. You can’t go nuts but hey are super focused right now. Just smelled a deer got ago!!
