I don’t know if it’s the angle or if you run that bridge so short it’s making me question things on my end! All about what’s comfortable to each person though for real. Good luck
What’s the seat on that windwalker you’re “runnin” @BTaylor?

Same tree, different platform. Set up earlier than usual and I’m consequently a little too far to the right of my bow hook. Oh well. It’ll take some calibration. Speaking of which, it’s also the first hunt fully loaded in the RM1. I think my accessory cord is a bit elongated and it’s throwing off my prusik height. So RM it is. Still requires calibrating too. I do have a nifty handle now above that lol. Probably a short hunt this morning, I’m freaking cold.

It’s hand warmer season here too. Glad to have it back.

D7DBE977-2956-4B4B-990D-5119E2D0222A.jpegGot the Montana Decoy out in the hopes that my daughter will see at least one deer this evening. So far just a couple of feral cats came through but they didn’t spook to us so that’s good. We also took out venison for dinner as a mark of good juju for the hunt.3A485791-8C25-45BC-A8E2-BACE8166CA43.jpeg

We got a chance to discuss aging that buck and he browsed on acorns for several minutes before moseying away quietly. Right before last light, we started to pack up and i caught movement in the brush behind the decoy. I tapped my daughter to put up her face mask and told her I saw does right in front of us. I gave her the tactacam and told her if one came past “that tree” to hit record cuz she’s gunna get shot. Ended up being at least 4 does of various ages, skirted the decoy without exposing themselves too much and tried to get the decoy to move. I didn’t want to take a frontal shot at 30yds on these massive Ohio does, even with a crossbow, but I told my daughter to watch every move and track them as long as she could. They hung around for 10m or so until we absolutely had to get out of the blind. They blew at the decoy from a distance but didn’t spook hard, and my daughter thought she was in Jurassic Park. I told her that was never a good sound to hear, and it’s even worse when they bolt afterwards. We exited the blind as quickly and silently as we could and she stayed right in my boot steps back to the golf cart at the treeline (btw nothing in the world is louder than a 7YO girl in rubber boots trying to walk quietly on October leaves). Again, an opportunity to discuss the nuances of hunting, ie roll your feet and try not to step on EVERY damn leaf in the forest lol.
I don’t even know if the night would have been better with a kill. Sometimes, often times, you hunt and see nothing, or see but kill nothing. She got as exciting of a hunting experience as any kid could ask for and went right home 250yds to eat last year’s doe.

Bridge is cinched down short on purpose whether I am on my platform or a stand. If I am on the mission I set my tether about collar bone high, keep the tether short and adjust the bridge on the bridge loops to get the feel right. That almost eliminates any chance of rope interference drawing the bow in almost any position. On that stand or any other I can and depending on the tree will set the tether a little higher because I can get farther off the tree and keep the rope angle low for draw clearance. That tree my tether was a few inches over my head because the trunk split into three and I set the tether there. Figured that out while I was using the fleece saddle. With a bridge on it I had some issues with draw clearance. I took the bridge off and just clipped straight to the loops on the end of the fleece and it worked WAY better for me. Now that I have a real saddle I set it up to function in a similar fashion. It's all about what works best for the individual but if you think your saddle doesnt fit or work well, play with all the options to adjust it.

That's a Lone Walker stand ;) This weekend was the first hunts on the 1S Mission (1 sticking mission) and the Lone Walker both worked very well. I do need to tighten the platform on the mission a bit though but otherwise tickled with both. I will say the Lone Walker will almost certainly end up being my go to unless it is a scout and hang type hunt.
