Lone Wolf Custom Gear Kuhnert Ambush Bent bolt/Fix

I have to say I not impressed with any of these “premium” overpriced products.

I had the LWCG compact sticks, treestand and this ambush platform. Obviously this platform has its fair share of problems. The sticks I had were nice. I liked how far from the tree the step was but the waterjet marks were pretty rough and had steps drilled off center and would only flip one direction. The finish on the stand was awful and whoever assembled the stand tightened the platform to post to tight and bent that...so I was told. Now I think it drilled off center... not impressed with any of it.

I bought 5 beast sticks on the first batch. I bent a couple of tree brackets and had some issues with the cam buckle straps binding up. I ordered another 4 from the latest batch. Took them on one outing bent 3 steps, 2 tree brackets and 3 tubes. They must of went to cheaper aluminum or something. The hardware they use is also subpar. They also don’t pack very well either. I have a love hate relationship with them.

I think we will see more of the big companies jumping on the mobile hunting train and the prices should be a lot more realistic. If not, then I will be going back to muddy pro sticks.

You’re killing me! Just returned the LWCG mini sticks and I’m about to pull the trigger on the Beast Sticks! Is this another known/systemic issue? I’m thinking I should just order the Muddy Pro’s at this point-I know they’re not without their problems!

I have been beating the crap out of Beast sticks for 3 full seasons now averaging 40-50 hunts per year and have had zero issues whatsoever. Unless your exceeding the weight limit I have no clue how there could be that many issues.

This is one of the first negative things I’ve ever heard about beast sticks. They are they best sticks I’ve ever owned & you couldn’t pay me double to send them back! But sounds like some QC to me....

I'm 260 and I've hunted from the beast sticks many many times and never have I had one issue.

I am looking forward to what Matt from out on a limb is cooking up with sticks. I hope it is good. His Ridge Runner is built like a tank for someone like me, a plus size guy (who seems to hamfist, bull in a china shop, over torque, break about anything I use). His ridge runner is bulletproof. The only thing I did was add some strategic stealth strips and replace strap with mini versa strap.

I would guess that he is watching this unfold. If there is a market, I would think he’d be open to creating more products. Seems like he can make platforms like French fries,
Small - original perch
Medium - podium
Large - ridge runner
Super size - ambush/assassin slayer.

I am embracing the suck of the weight of the muddy pros and reveling in everything else they do great (folds up and packs nice and tight, cam cleat - need I even explain this, rope can be replaced and any length can be used).

In regarding LWCG, I think that they are utilizing the name of Lone Wolf for marketing purposes. They are a completely separate entity. I think the general hunting public thinks they are Lone Wolf, and more than that, a special, high end Lone Wolf. They definitely are NOT! Seeing what I see, I would never buy a LWCG product.

The weight limit is supposedly 300lbs. I don’t exceed that.

I have 3 from new batch and 1 from old batch. I haven’t had any bend. Not parts of them. They seem well built.

Blows my mind that you bent that many. Did they give you a refund

Any pics enkriss?

The small package means I can use a small pack. Adding sticks and a platform means I can't use my small pack. Gotta use a frame pack. Gotta tie stuff on. Got stuff dangling and hanging far away from my body. Hate, hate, hate it.
I feel like I’m forever in a quest to find a small frame pack that can sandwich my sticks/platform between a fleece backpack so they’re tight to my back. Might need to contact @Squirrels...

Trying to understand how that’s even possible? I can’t even imagine the excessive force required to do that kind of damage. Looks like they went thru extreme product testing to failure.

I will say that I bent my first api that I drilled out similarly. Not to this level though. My assumption was the api’s didn’t use the same quality of aluminum. I’m 260 for reference, and wondered how these didn’t get any deflection in the post.

Nope just me climbing a tree.

My original batch doesn’t look like that just 2 bent antler brackets.

So i got the new button in the mail today. It's an XOP I believe. Works, but I found the issue, and it's gonna be easy to fix. I'll post pics when I have better signal. Out hunting on it (and the new trophyline saddle :) now).

Basically, the bolt isn't bent, and the hole isnt crooked. The waterjetting left a shard of metal wedged between the post and the nut, which tilted the bolt. 30 seconds with a file and I should be gtg.

Did this fix end up working for you? Would be interested to see how you rectified the issue.

Has anyone else received the replacement button?

Is the Podium really smaller than the RR? I thought it was the other way around, but mostly similar in size.

I owned a Podium all too briefly and it was plenty big enough and beautiful at 3 lbs, and similarly "bulletproof", and more reasonably priced than competitors. I'll probably end up with another one in my future.
