Looking for a warmer mid layer fleece. Suggestions?

I don’t know if you can buy them separately but my favorite mid layer is a Helly/Hanson fleece that came with my snowboarding jacket. The reason I love it so much is the collar. It is low profile so when you layer you don’t end up with 10 collars choking you to death.

I love that feature soo much that I cut the collars off a few of my north face fleeces that I only use for layering.

I picked up one of their 300+ fleece midlayers to try as I was needing one for skiing and hunting. Thanks

Yea I wanted to support them too despite their poor camp patterns. I couldn’t find anything with the words windproof on any of their clothing though. They also didnt have any of them in stock when I was looking. I bet I could get by with 3/4 of my season with a good mid layer.
I forgot to mention but the only thing I asked the wife for Christmas was the new kuiu wind pro fleece jacket. I doubt it is as windproof as the nat gear but it is a much more tailored fit. That is the one thing I dont like about the nat gear jacket, the fit is to baggy for my taste.

I’m scared for this weather. We aren’t ready here in Alabama lol View attachment 78483

I’ll be up in north Alabama this weekend for Christmas and am thinking about going out, I don’t know that I have single digit levels of clothes either. I got the lightweight and medium FL merino base layers I’ll run with a cabelas windproof vest I think but my outer layer will probably be a puffer and fleece hoodie from vortex. I wore a tshirt and that hoodie walking in in the 30s this past weekend and that worked well. Added the 250 weight hoodie from FL and a puffer vest while sitting still and that kept me warm enough for the few hours I sat.

I would agree. I was in full on frozen beard weather the other day and it was my gloves getting wet that got me. Thanks, pretty sure I'll have that vest real soon
I am afraid to know how many types of gloves I have tried but have never had a pair that kept my hands warm. Finally just gave up and stick with some mid weight type gloves for cold weather getting to the tree and then rely on hot hands either in pockets or a muff for the hunt.

For what I have, I would drop the fleece vest and replace with my down puffy under the fleece jacket and expect to not be overly warm if sitting for more than a couple hours. Head, hands and feet would be the biggest problem for me.

I have a North Face fleece that is twice as thick as any other fleece I have. Very warm as a mid layer. Unfortunately I have no clue on model or anything of it. The drawback is if layered over merino wool, when you try to take it off, they stick together and then generate all kinds of static when peeled apart.
I second that. I have one of those as well. It’s twice as thick as a normal fleece.

YouTube insists on brow beating me with Bearskin hoodies constantly. They look pretty sweet but they’re like $200+. That’s way too much for me for a hoodie. But ought to work well for ya if the marketing hype is at all accurate.
My 4 year old was watching youtube with me when that ad appeared and I was tempted… she mentions it 3 times a week now “the big jacket daddy needs” that ad got her.

Anybody else have one of these old Polartec Cabelas shirts?… man its warm I wonder who’s making layers with the same material now.

Edit: @Ben C I think you might’ve found my answer!
