Louisiana Saddle Hunter's Thread

Hello fellas. I'm looking for a little help. I am was born and raised in LA in the Denham area till I was 21, then moved to the mountains of North Bama where I've lived for the past 12 years. I never hunted public land while in LA, always knew someone with private land. A buddy and I are wanting to make a trip to LA to hunt hogs. Not up on the rules and regs for LA, since I haven't hunted it much in the past 12 years. Can someone help me out and point me in the right direction? In return we will bring you out for some mountain deer hunting if that interest you.

Read the wma section. There are some wmas with special hog seasons (pg75) but for most part you have to use whatever weapon is legal for whatever season is open.

What part of Bama? My wife is from Oxford and I lived in Moody a while.

Richard K Yancey has tons of hogs. The only caveat to PL is you have to hunt with whatever season is open. So squirrel is open, you have to use legal squirrel shot.

Once turkey season opens you should be able to pack a bow huh?

Hey guys, already have had several member requests from people not living in or even from Louisiana. Was going to decline their request.

I figured seeing as how there is already the Saddlehunting group open to all saddlehunters, it'd be better to keep this new group unsaturated with non-Louisiana folk and company reps; otherwise what's the point of having a Louisiana only group, right?

Feel free to invite non-Louisiana residents if you know they hunt in the state, but in general non-Louisiana residents will not be approved.

If there is a sign up for the Louisiana page, count me in. Home base is New Orleans mostly planning on heading to the Pearl River and maybe hoping to learn Maurepas.

Checking in from Brusly. Always hunted the Spillway but this is my first year up in Norwood, LA for hunting. Just ordered a TL and Ridge Runner on the way home from Angola Rodeo Sunday. Plan on using the saddle to keep pressure off of my lock ons. If I tag out at the lease, only one buck, plan on going up public land.

I would love to go back to Kansas, hunted private in 2017, and make some public land hunts. That's really what got me interested in saddles. The mobility options seem endless. Good luck to everone and would be great to meet some of you from around the BR area.
