I prefer the narrow taper on the xop and lwcg. I've never had an issue with kick out or anything. I run one strap and toe hook it. My platform and sticks are stealth-stripped. If I remember right my ready-to-hunt weight for stand and sticks is under 12 pounds with the .5 and two full length sticks with cable aiders.

Just got a .5. Pretty happy. Went from no lwcg to going to the roadshow a month ago to now owning the minis w aiders, ambush, .5 and 1.0. When my LWs sell I think I may go double sticks and never look online at hunting gear again… or take out a home equity loan. Lol

Is anyone using the rubber tape kit LWCG has? Did it add much weight to the stand? Thanks

I got one yesterday too… ordered it like 2 weeks ago.
So give us an honest answer, would you consider the .5 be the best/last/greatest tree stand anyone can have for the foreseeable future? In regards to hybrid stand/saddle setup. That it is a 'buy once cry once' item.

Like what new innovation/revolution would there need to be to beat the .5 if you(or l) can only use one stand for the next 10 years.

Like for me, if somehow the cables can be remove from the .5 safely and still keep all the features. I'll ask the Bank of Wife for a loan to get one ASAP.

No there's no way you could use it without cables. I hunted with one a lot last season and I don't think there's anyway an aluminum stand can get any better. Taller seat post is about the only complaint I can make.

They've announced a taller seat post. I don't know if that will only be available as an option when you purchase, or also for retrofit.

I'd be interested in another short post if folks are able to buy and swap.

They're offering a thicker pad for the .5 now. I've thought about cutting a piece of scoreboard insulation to boost the seat height but I haven't gotten to it yet.

Yours are the same. Thinner gray on the 1.0 and thick black on the new .5. Maybe it has to do with vintage?
