Thanks btw, but it sure doesn’t feel like a noodle....... I’m not an ounce counter & I don’t really notice a big difference when carrying. But yes it’s much beefier & heavier than other available options. Curious to see how the mission compares.

Well you know, he's probably seen your overwhelming influence and power among the discontented, soul-searching, gullible, money burning, saddlehunter.com community and that makes you da belle of da ball
He called me like 3 times too. I'm a nobody. He told me about the buttons that were going out, I expressed hown dissapointed I was in the overall quality and hownitnlooked like the holes were all drilled freehand. He agreed 100% and asked what I wanted to do. I asked for a refund. I had a prepaid.ups label and a full refund within 3 hours. He did me right, I was happy even though I was bummed the platform didn't work out.

Received the new Ambush today. All holes drilled perfect. No more hole drilled through the side (they did this on the older model to be able to screw on the post). No more rubber coating to peel off. Machined grip instead of coated grip. Added an extra grommet hole for LWCG single step sticks. Beefed up the post (because of the single failure posted a while back). Weighs less than what is says on the website. Came with two buckle straps and backpack straps. I'm really impressed.

Do not step behind the pivot point on the platform or it will drop like a trap door. Like when you swing around the back of the tree.
A safety pin/bolt could have been incorporated to the underside of the platform to keep this from happening.
I made a cinch strap from the platform to the post to keep the rear from falling away, but it's not ideal.
The second strap helps, but the platform can still kick out and loosen up. But at least it won't totally fall away.

Just a side note, stepping behind the pivot point on any platform can cause this same issue.

I think it depends on the tree and how you set it. I've never folded it up. It can happen on any platform that cams over with a post. If I ever think there is a concern about it folding I can run Amsteel on those lower tabs to keep it from folding up.

While true any platform with a post can kick out the further out the pivot point is the easier it is to get it to fold up. The Mission post is set much closer to the tree so it takes a LOT of effort to get it to start to move. I think you'd be hard pressed to get the Mission to fold up and kick out as I tried as hard as I could to get it to do that and it only moved about a half inch and then stopped. When i stepped back on it it only cammed even harder to the tree.

But i have seen the Ambush do it and completely fold up with far less effort. Maybe they can move it back a bit with a Gen 3 model? Nice to see they beefed up the Post though to hopefully mitigate the snapping post issue.

I do like these bigger platforms as i never noticed a difference packing in something 3.5 pounds vs 5.5 pounds as its not like im out West carrying it for miles and miles every day for 7 days in a row. Its more like walk in a mile or two, hunt, walk out and go home when whitetail hunting so for the 3 to 10 hours im hunting out of a platform/stand id rather be comfortable as opposed to carrying 2 lbs less while walking in/out that mile or two.

Its all a far cry from the 35lb stand and steps i used to carry in and out to hunt public every day in the early 90s!
