LWCG Stick Aider - DIY

I currently run the Versa Straps on my Helium’s...I have no problems as far as packing them goes. Not a huge fan of having to try and separate the daisy chain though...sometimes (for me anyway) the daisy chain likes to stick together. Not a huge issue, just annoying. Hunted today with 7/64 Amsteel daisy chain and liked that a lot more. Made the climbing process faster for me personally. As far as aiders go, I use a CAYG Aider and I like it. Wouldn’t mind seeing in a one step Aider to each stick though just so I don’t have to worry about dropping the Aider and having to pull out the backup.

Yeah, I don’t like it as a daisy chain either, I use it just like I would a rope.

I think we have all the tools at work to make those, i will check and try it if we do and report back. We have a crimper and cable. Just dont know what length i would make it but thats just prefernece anyways.

I think it’s a neat idea. It’s basically a treestand or tailgate cable. I’m thinking not for me but a viable option for someone who wants a one step aider attached to each stick.

Steel cable, even coated steel cable looses the noise battle to tubular webbing. We use small cable like that at work for lock out tag out and it’s not nearly as storable/packable/ easy to make do what u want as webbing.. I don’t really see an advantage.

Tubular webbing would also be lighter

Soooo.... I ordered some Shikar sticks and was thinking about using a CAYG tubular webbing with some stiff rope shovel in the bottom....

But I noticed this:

The cable would probably be good but thinking the Amsteel also. Can go through that hole and Brummell splice under it to keep it from moving them make it into an infinity loop with possibly weed eater line shoved in the bottom or what about spraying the bottom of the loop with plastidip?

would you not be concerned that eventually the amsteel would wear down and get cut by the wall of the stick?

I haven’t ordered any Amsteel yet... but yes that is a concern I am going to wait and see what that hole looks like in the bottom of the stick

Got my Shikars in. They are solid bar stock. I am going to order some 1/4” amsteel and reflective paracord.

I am disappointed in you. You seem to always be one of the first to get any new gear when it comes to sticks and platforms. :tearsofjoy: :tearsofjoy: :tearsofjoy:

It’s tempting. I have actually had it in my cart all day...lol

I just think it will be tiny and don’t know if I would be able to get a shot off weak side easily.

I think it's a cool concept, but still feel that as far as aiders go, a single, moveable piece of webbing that goes up and down the tree with you is the way to go. Aside from the obvious weight savings, it stays in the sweet spot under your foot, you dont have to find it, and you dont have to deal with attached aiders.
