Mobile Blind Setups - Gobblers

Is that the smaller 1 they make? I bought the larger 1 and I'm convinced it works but have not had game around me every to test my theory.

Yes it's the smaller one. That tom came in from 11 oclock in the last 2 pics, within 5 yards, straight to the dekes. Very fun hunt.

I have a spring loaded 3 panel and a chair blind for down at camp I have taken many turkey out of both. Here at home as I work in the woods I build brush blinds. Many big enough for lawn chairs others have marine boat seats I pulled out of a ski boat we demo'd, low to ground.
I also have a great folding turkey chair. Though tucking up in to down falls works great, many times I've called Toms in to have them hop up on to the down fall to scan the area ...boom! Another area I sat was the root depression. He cam in so close as I sat in that hole I literally shot his head clean off . I like big logs with brush in front of me.

I bow hunt and obviously movement is necessary so a ground blind comes in pretty handy. Killed a bird in the opening week this year from a hub style blind. It was preset the night before after roosting the bird. I have run and gun with them but they are pretty cumbersome. If I was gun hunting I think I would just find a tree to sit still against.

I'm going to try the bow this year for the first time. I've always wanted to try to take a turkey with the bow but wasn't sure how I could ever get a draw on one in the manner I usually set up. I sympathize with the need to hide to draw and my approach this year is going to be to tie into my saddle an "hang" with my feeet on the ground and try to take advantage of the ability to slowly walk around and hide behind the tree. I'm sure there will be a learning curve but I'm gonna give it a shot. I'm hoping as a side benefit that it will help with self-filming as I can get the camera up from ground level. Should be a fun new experience.

I used a blind a few times mostly when I'm setting up on field gobblers, taking a youth or non hunter. its been several years. I've never used a decoy or fanned one, not that I'm opposed just never needed one.
I hoping to put my skills to the test this weekend and get Denotes a bird or two if were real lucky. I haven't hunted much the last few years and haven't been in the woods yet this year.
I can't wait!

I have been thinking about trying "ground saddle hunting". I think if you used the saddle and maybe local brush you could get it done. I think you would definitely be able move around the tree to get drawn. Ive tried it only once but felt like it was doable. I ran long tether so and sat pretty low to the ground. It seemed like it is going to easier to get the bow drawn from the "hanging" position than in a low seat. I will be trying it some more before the season is over. Good luck!!

I also have a ghost blind that I tried to ship to Jefferson10940 but the shipping cost were absurd so I’ve used it a few times on some recently acquired hunting property. I had a gobbler come out in the pasture twice and stand under that oak tree gobbling. No kill but it was a great huntIMG_4435.jpg

That is an electric fence and yes I did touch it once while setting up. That will wake you up at 06:00

I have a ghost blind as well, but last one I shot with my bow from 30 yrds off my back porch.... one before that i was sitting against a 2019-01-05 12.18.14.jpgstone wall at the edge of the field in full camo, 20yrd shotgun shot. Definitely easier to hunt them without a blind when gun hunting than bow hunting....

Check out Close proximity tv on YouTube if you bowhunt

So I did. This guy is good and will I will be watching all of his hunts. He has his bow brushed in. Anyone ever try this?? it makes me a little nervous that Im going to get something in way and cause some kind of catastrophic failure in my hands. It sure would help I think. But I want turkey hunting to be dangerous for the turkeys.. not me.

You could try something like this...

In Pennsylvania during spring gobbler a ground blind must cover you on all sides and above so movement can not be detected from outside the blind. I would love to use a half blind but it's illegal.

A half blind is illegal in PA? I didn’t realize that. Any idea on the reasoning?
