New Aerohunter saddle?

Lots of speculating so I just ordered one of the darn things this morning. Ugh! I still have my flex and it is top notch. I also have a Cruzr XC and like it too. Use my Cruzr until it gets colder and then use the flex. I’m gonna try the gorilla mesh version in this new shrike.

I’m left handed and prefer to clip my Linesman carabiner on my right side. I have a fixed connection on my left side. Hope there is some flexibility there or I’ll have to switch. Not really a big deal for me. We shall see how it feels….

After looking at the pics and reading the description, I am impressed. Looks great. Might have to upgrade the Merlin.

Not huge on the webbing belt without trying it, however shame on me but since I mostly 1 stick i rarely use my linemans belt anyway. Now the question is to get a size X or a size 1.... ugh wanting to try size X but also thinking 1 for a little extra room and easier resale if i decide to stick with my flex....

I was so excited to see the new Aero Hunter saddle....it fixed all the issues I had with the most recent generation.....

But I love love love my existing lineman's formula which took me plenty of trial and error to perfect (nice stiff Samson ultratech 5/16 with figure eight on a bite permanently girth hitched to my left loop, stored in my adjacent EWO fleece dump sack, with a GT's rollnlock and my favorite carabiner(not their damn carabiner) attached to the right loop - ingrained in muscle memory and used on my entire fleet of saddles).

My saddle has got to have TWO lineman's loops. Like damn near every other saddle on the market. Literally no one was clamoring for a fixed lineman's. If I were forced to use this saddle, I'd literally cut off the webbing lineman's and install a new lineman's loop on the right side.

Cosmically dumb lineman's design on what looks like an otherwise superb saddle.

Ditch that linemans's system and provide a loop on each side and I'll order one before lunch.

Hell, I could even be convinced to use their new webbing-based tree strap over my existing tether fleet. That I could live with. But not that fixed lineman's that provides me with no flexibility in how I use my lineman's.

i wonder if a phone call will resolve that? I think they’ve made adjustments in the past.

Based on my experience as an arborist, i plan on giving a run at attaching my current linemans to the bridge loops and see how it goes. I prefer to run my flipline in that configuration on my work saddle anyway as it distributes the load and support across the waist and legs vs just on the waist.

beat me to it….lol

Good point, and they have. I just sent them a pleasant email suggesting they offer this saddle with a lineman's loop on each side and leave it up to the user to choose what sort of lineman's arrangement they wish to employ. I suggest other interested parties do the same.

We want options, and competition, and innovation, and diversity in saddle hunting equipment!!!!!

ten saddle companies pop up and start offering unique products...

Why would you make this so unique! That's so dumb who runs your marketing don't you realize most people don't want this feature?!?!? Now it's not EXACTLY like 7 of the other 10 saddles currently available right now!!!

Oh go back to your curmudgeon cave you realist!

Honestly… why not just use the bridge loops as lineman loops?

Safety reasons. It would be too easy to disconnect the wrong clip in the dark. I like dedicated lineman loops. I disconnect the lineman only when my bridge is secured. Do not want to muddy the water by having both bridge and lineman's rope connecting in the same spot.

I know the people over at New Tribe/Aero Hunter fairly well since I have been using their arborist saddles for years. I just reached out about this situation and was told they will only be made as and also suggested that using the bridge loops for attachments of your own linemans just like we use lower d rings off our bridge for fliplines in tree work.... I wish they would give us the second linemans loop as well to better suit everyone but i have a feeling that running it off the bridge loop will be a better option for myself anyway.

Yeah, they responded the same to me.

Darn I’ve bought two of their saddles, love their build quality and would like to do business with them again. Even if I use the bridge loops, I’d have to slice off their sewn-in lineman’s webbing and that’s just too cheesy on a brand new premium priced saddle.

Pass.
