New Gear for 2023, Go!

View attachment 79640

Like everything I see but the seat. Even with a cushion its prob going to sit like a park bench in about an hour. Was hoping
they would do like an air bladder seat like the old Summits.
That looks like half a stand , no wonder it’s so light
If it’s $799 the amount of guys that’ll buy it will show you why marketing works so well

I never used their old climber but it seems the platform Is a little short? Do you sit farther back in these compared their hang ons? I guess you can change the height of the top part to accommodate.

I used a LW hand climber for years and killed a lot of deer from it. I don't ever think I'd go back but this one does look nice. Solved quite a few issues that were present from the original. Looks like the added bar could be a nice addition for rifle hunting too.

I stopped by CRUZR HQ this week. It looks like they had to change directions away from the polymer stick. As they described it, they got too close to the edge of material science capabilities and couldn’t get through the requisite testing cycles while feeling confident in the safety characteristics. I saw prototypes of the design they will have at ATA and they were a machined aluminum step design. They look like they will stack very nicely. They are still considering a carbon fiber post to reduce weight. I’m sure they will continue to investigate innovations but are starting here to get a viable stick in their product line sooner than later.

Translation from a quality engineer.. well used to be, now they work for me.

They can't get the necessary safety factor (whatever it is, likely 3x or 4x) from the material to give them confidence in long term use given the expected and un-avoidable variation in material and manufacturing tolerances while still maintaining the features that make the material worthwhile to use over aluminum. I would almost bet that they end up heavier to maintain that safety factor (I've worked with marine grade polymers before).

It’s short. The platform is .5 size. I am hoping they make one like 27” long. This would basically be a climbing saddle platform for me if I bought it. No way I can comfortably use it as intended.

It weighs 5+ pounds less AND they've really fixed a bunch of the issues with the original. MIGHT be worth giving a try.

I personally think it’s called a crossover because it has a way to mount the custom gear sticks onto the climber. If you get to an area and you don’t need the sticks you use it as a climber. If you get to an area that has low hanging branches, you hang the sticks, and then hang this light weight climbing stand and use it as a lock on. That’s just my opinion though.

Now that would be an excellent product!

That is how I plan on using it as well. Use it as a climber if the tree accomodates, and if not one stick and use it like a hang on.

Sounds great but at 260# I’m a little leery. I’m also surprised they couldn’t beat the weight of the One sticks.

Me too… I was expecting like 14oz or so but I guess I expect to much. I was definitely expecting lighter than the ones

They have the little hook ups. I forget what they call them built into the climber. They are used for strapping things to the stand, so why not

I thought those grommets were for mating the top and bottom together

might be interesting for some of the internal struts on the platform that don't bear the same forces.....we've about hit the limit on what can be done with cast aluminum and downward camming platforms....places are just changing size and shape at this point
