New Gear for 2023, Go!

Any Exo mountain gear fans waiting for the K4. Go here today if you are in a rush to the front of the line.

Honestly I'm pretty pumped about this, but I just bought a K3 last year and can't quite bring myself to pull the trigger on a new pack already.

I ordered a full 5000 setup. That bag layout is about perfect imo. I am too excited for this pack.

Would have been better with dual post like a windwalker to spread the cables whether using it as a stand or a platform. If they would make that change I would be all over that setup.

Yes. It would weigh more, but function better IMO for broader usage. But A dual post could possibly open the design to lighter weight seating, and it’d be a wash.

I’m wondering when we’ll start to see CF component aftermarket seats. That’s low hanging fruit.

Going with fixed heads this year over the mechanicals. I got some Magnus killer bee stingers-a 2 blade razor with the 2 bleeders on the sides…..pretty nasty looking and sticky sharp. I got some solid 3 blades just for fun that are pretty sharp too!

I was fortunate enough to be a tester. I have been in the pack game since early 2002 and have seen the advancement of all the packs since then. Mystery Ranch, Tactical Taylor, Kifaru, Eberlestock, etc. I have zero affiliation to any company and hands down it is the nicest most advanced yet simple frame I have ever used. The pack is nothing earth shattering other than how simple it is. I hate how many straps there are on Stone Glacier or Kifaru packs. Exo made the meat shelf access and everything else about the pack as simple as possible.
Make sure you measure yourself and get the right hip belt size. Once that’s dialed in, what I suggest is that you adjust the shoulder straps up and down in the one inch adjustment slots and adjust the back pad and shoulder straps until it’s perfect. You will know when you have it dialed in. Make sure you have about 40-50lbs when trying different adjustments also to ensure proper feeling. Then get to walking. I also suggest the locking buckles for your bow or rifle. I also have like the Nalgene bottle holder placement as well.
eBay is about to be full of K3 packs on the cheap I’m guessing.

Not much leeway in those belt sizes. I have a few beers and forget it.
There is plenty of strap adjustment for beer gut syndrome. I “think” the specific measurements are for the portion of the belt wrapping around your pelvic girdle from the frame to the end of the hip padded portion to ensure the pack carries properly on your skeletal system as much as possible. But if you have a belly, there is adjustment for that like a K3 or a Stone Glacier pack.

Or cut back on the brews. :weary:

EXO K4 pack system drops next week. I decided to wait for the K4 instead of getting the older K3 at Christmas. Glad I waited! I think they’ve built out lots of inventory so they should ship immediately when released. Don’t know if this is a late Xmas prezzie or a really early one!

System overview yt vid posted today:

The Exo K4's are available for purchase now. I pulled the trigger and ordered the K4 5000 in Ranger green with a few accessories like a belt pouch and the awesome nalgene bottle holder. Damn....that hurt the bank account, but I don't expect I'll ever buy another pack in my lifetime. Buy once, cry once.
Will likely order the 1800 day bag when it's released this summer, for day trips.

Glad I held out and didn't get the K3 in December....the K4 looks like it was really worth the wait.

It is absolutely worth every dollar. I have almost a hundred miles logged on mine now and it is phenomenal.

I really like the thought process on the suspension, but overall it seems pretty western focused still. Well worth the money, no doubt, but could use refinement for eastern whitetail to be at it’s best for that pursuit. again, imo.

I almost ordered a K4 a few times. Seems better than most frame packs on the market.

However, if I was going to buy one it would probably be the 5k pack. Looks like it cinches down tight when empty. The smaller sizes they plan on offering in the future will probably be really long and really narrow. Not sure I would like that.

Long (tall) and narrow is kind of an EXO signature. Their V shaped pack is intentional. They try to push the weight up. This works well until lateral stability suffers.

Nothing wrong with a 5K pack, but 3600 is as big as I could ever want in the NE.
