New Gear for 2023, Go!

Did they look like this?

View attachment 78651
The stand-off part had similar geometry but the step had different geometry. The steps flared forward similar to the angle on skeletors except they are fixed steps. The prototype did not have an attachment method on it yet so don’t know which direction they will go there. All this could very well change before summer.

2023 might be the year of going back to a stand since these new ones are so light. I’ve been in a saddle for 5-6 years now. I love walking in and being up in a tree with it. I don’t like how much movement it takes to get a shot in comparison to standing on a stand. I don’t like facing the tree the whole time. I can’t believe I’m even thinking this way after spending so much time, money and energy tinkering with my system and going to a saddle. I guess the best way to put it is that I grab the saddle every time because I like it better, until it comes time to try and shoot something. Someone talk me out of it!!
Can't either. Had 6 saddles and got rid of all of them for the beast stand. Should have kept 1 however as a stand isn't perfect for all situations. Gunna wait to see if any new saddles drop this year and if not I'm getting the XC again

I can’t talk you out of it cuz I made the same choice in 2022… hunted out of the saddle twice. .75 the rest of the time.
This is my worry I am debating getting back into the saddle but still not sure about a mobile stand setup. No need for both in my eyes

I like both. Saddle on small diameter trees, less then 16". Stand on larger trees or trees with branches.

I had this same thought last year, was planning on hunting off a stand this year after the first week of the season dragging a stand around having it and multiple times thinking about how the trees I was in set up better for a saddle i went back to one. Good luck maybe it was just me but I’m over the stand bug.

So funny I did this exact thing in 2021. Bought a new hang in and everything and hunted it one time and went back to a saddle.

Until someone can throw a seat like what is on the Millenium M100 on one of these light weight setups, I am SH for life. I'd rather someone smack me directly in the goods with a ballpeen hammer than sit on a fold down metal platform for a seat, cushion or not. Excruciating pain within 15 minutes, the aforementioned ballpeen hammer treatment feels better. So, I certainly can't advocate for going back to treestand.

Lone wolf custom gear has mesh seats. I hate mesh seats and prefer the cushion. Call me the odd ball…

Looking at the LWCG mesh seat I would think you'd have to sit on top of the back bar of the seat of you wanted your low back against the tree for a rest.

So in other words I think I'm with you on the seats. Going to order a. 75 and the standard seat looks like the better option to me.

The mesh seat isn’t bad on the lwcg stands. Every once in a while I found myself sitting on the back bar and had to readjust. However they don’t even come close to a m100u.

Well I was just watching NY Saddle Hunter and speaking with my Fireman buddies about the Sterling F4 decender. Looks like it might be a good deal and purpose built for this application, both the new and old versions look pretty cool.

Would you use it one sticking? Is there a possibility it would let go if you tapped the grip while grabbing your stick? Is it going to be the next out of stock device? All this and more at 11…

Bear with me, I'm in a 1700's kick.

One question is always late season warmth and/or ground blind options. Borrowing from the 1700's, take a wool blanket, add a windbreaker liner and dye it in late season hardwood colors. With that, you can easily create a hooded cloak that is warm, lightweight, windbreaking and camouflaged suitable for both saddle and ground use.

Well this dropped this year. Being a magnum handgun nut, I gotta say I'm drooling over this. Want so bad. 500 Bushwhacker. Makes the 500 S&W look like a 22. 5000lb of energy at the muzzle, FROM A HANDGUN.. getting ever closer to jokers gun1000017135.jpg1000017136.jpg

We need one of those mono-pod golf seats with a platform connection. You could sit down while facing the tree!

I have a mesh seat on my 1.0 and I think it's as good as the seat on a M7.We'll find out in two weeks in LWCG is putting out a climber.
