New Tribe Evolution...Improvent suggestions thread

Suspenders! A saddle weighed down with a couple of gear bags doesn't like to stay up on someone with no waist (such as myself). For those with the same problem, you can fashion some "suspenders" using your lineman's belt...take the belt and hook into both side loops, then sling it up over the back of your neck and tighten as necessary.

My work saddle has shoulder straps and it really helps distribute the weight of hanging gear. Not everybody like them but I've always thought they were comfortable.

If shoulder straps are what it takes to make it TMA approved, then why not have a set that clips to the existing accessory loops or make a loop that will meet the standards but have a disconnect option on them for those that don't want them or a clean spot to be able to cut them off. As long as we could have that TMA tag on the saddle for accessing public land that requires it. Im sure most of us don't care about the rating anyway. Just want to be legal where required.

Regarding camo patterns, I started with a soft gray, solid. Next to a maple or oak it works just fine. The wrinkles in the wools provides shades just like the tree bark. Later when I started using Scent Lock I used the real tree type patterns in dark green, small patterns, and got picked off a few times. Then Scent Lock released Vertigo, which is open and has gray-ish open areas, not white. I have deer stare right at me for minutes without picking me off (after I made a stupid noise with my feet or body).

As for camo on the Evolution, you don't have to wait for New Tribe to come out with a pattern, just cut up a used jacked or pants that you like into shapes that cover the leg, butt and back panels of the Evolution. Sew them on with a regular sewing machine. Its not structural so there's no need for fancy, strong sewing.

I'm doing mine in Vertigo!

New tribe makes a "Suspender strap of sorts that works like a duffle bag strap but I like your idea much better. I'm going to be carrying a lineman's belt anyway and my saddle has a safty loop right in the middle of my back that I could clip into with a biner. Right now I'm using a pair of cheap suspenders from cabelas and I have to take them off once I start climbing anyway or I end up with the saddle riding up on me while I climb.

I'm curiously waiting to see what comes of this. Seems like more and more folks are trying to go simpler and lighter with their saddles?

They'll be at ATA next month. I expect to see a prototype. I have Dirt Nap Giver from the Hunting Beast taking pics.

Awesome.... I hope they have been listening with open minds. Id love to have a couple of minimalist sales made by then as they put out top notch stuff..... But i can't use their current saddle.

And thanks for the links on other side about filming from saddle

For awhile there I thought sit-drag was gonna dominate the market without even trying.

Brown straps and olive drab seat or via versa would be great. I don't care about camo pattern especially on such a small piece. Earth tones would be perfect.

Leg straps with the padding extended 3-4 more inches should help with the digging in to the crotch but I could be wrong. Would have to be tested.

Some kind of quick detachment of the leg straps would be be the greatest improvement! I hate stepping into those legs straps especially with muddy boots and water on the ground. This really sucks! I use to use the black diamond bod harness and putting it on was a breeze! Like this. http://www.backcountry.com/black-diamon ... 99-ABBLK-L

I suspect the quick disconnect is a liability issue.
Its not, like swampsnyper said most have them. It was just trying to find a hardware we like and are comfortable with thats hunter friendly.

Thanks,
Boswell

Casey posted on here that so far, any of the hardware they would use would just add weight to the saddle.

Exactly, trying to find something that is QR, light weight, quiet and just hunter friendly in general is kind of tough. We do have one thing that has seemed to work so far, it covers as many of those as possible.

Thanks,
Boswell

Looking forward to that when it comes out...hopefully there will be a way to adapt it to the older models. I just bit the bullet and bought mine today...

MBeard, You won't regret it. I am part of the SitDrag modding crowd, but when it comes down to it my 'old' NewTribe (pre evolution) works great.

What I would change: A lighter quieter solution than the 'paws'. The bulk of the saddle is what distributes the weight. That's a good thing. Being able to stand sideways on a tree and not fall out is a good thing. Being able to fall asleep and not fall out is a good thing!

Agree with you on this. The only real thing I would change about the aerohunter would be to find a way to do it without the heavy paws.
