New Tribe Evolution...Improvent suggestions thread

Keep it coming guys, the only way to improve a product is criticism. The more we get the better we can make the next model!
Thanks,
Boswell

Think sit drag only better material and sewing like New Tribe does. it would need to have an easily adjusted waist belt. I would add separate loops for lineman's belt and a removable and easily adjusted bridge. Molle style loops and well made gear bags that are removable would also be a big plus. Start with a very basic model and have options that can be purchased separately (like back straps, butt pads, etc.) for those so inclined.

As far as safety concerns you simply state that it should be used with a proper fall restraint device like tree stand manufacturers do. The problem is when you try to make one product that does both. When you do that it quickly becomes over engineered, heavier, and restricts movement which based upon what I have seen on this site over last few years is why the sit drag mods are so popular.

My biggest gripe after 2 seasons with my aerohunter is packability. Hardware aside I think the biggest thing affecting packability is the seat material. It's not very compressible, and is rather 'stiff', and is difficult to roll up tightly.

I'm wondering if some sort of nylon web or other synthetic couldn't get the job done just as well but allow more flexibility and would be easier to pack up without sacrificing comfort.

Right now I fill up about 2/3rd of a 5 gallon bucket, and about the same of 2,200 cu. in. day pack with my saddle (including linemans rope and drop pouch for tree strap.).

Otherwise, like everyone else, i'd like to see diffirent solutions for the paws eventually, although they don't really affect packability IMO. Couple of ideas that might have been mentioned already: Smaller / more lightweight metal, Rubber coated to reduce potential for bangs + clanks, sewn web paws...

I love my evolution. Although I never experienced the TL Tree saddle, there are some aspects I have seen on other videos I wish the NT had. First, even though suspenders are not needed for climbing or being in the tree, my belt tends to sag a bit when walking to my stand. I know NT makes a duffle style strap, but I am partial to a full suspenders style that hangs off both shoulders without crossing my chest. I like the tool belt that z7blackedout posted on youtube. I have purchased a similar item for my NT, but it does not have many points to attach to. An aftermarket item such as this works well. But this brings me to my next point that sort of relates to the suspenders attachment point problem. I wish the NT had more attachment loops similar to the Molle webbing on the TL. My suspenders has a single attachment point in the back, but there is no place to hook it up in the middle. I have used a paracord loop to wrap around the strap/buckle to the lower saddle.
To recap: I would like more mollie loop attachment points spaced around the belt. I still love my Evolution.

Looking at ordering an Aero myself and watched all vids on it. Still own and use my USA made Trophyline treesaddle. Aero looks quality made very well thought out! Ideas to make better: #1 no potential metal to metal contact noise... possibly include wetsuit neoprene covers for paws (Guido's Web includes 2 to cover biners where paws are on Aero) and back on page 4 it was brought up why stopper knots are used on rope ends and not figure 8 loops that hook back into biners on lineman belt and bridge in case 9mm rope ever fails as a secondary back up. This would increase safety and give peace of mind in my opinion. These are just 2 small things I noticed and planned on doing myself after I get my own. Keep up the great work!!

Sorry guys reading my post I wanna make a clarification not to confuse anybody...its the lineman belt and treerope with the biners that would benefit from a figure 8 tied into the tail end that could hook back into the biner as a secondary. The bridge with the stopper knot already has the metal paw as a secondary....

Hi all.

I just got my Aerohunter Evo a couple weeks ago. Have hunted from it several times now, including a couple public land hunts with long walks in (> 1 mile).

I don't notice the weight and while I wouldnt want it heavier, I can walk 2 miles in wearing it without fatigue.

My initial thoughts:

1) When carrying a bow or climbing sticks they tend to clang on the paws. Others have mentioned rubber coatings, but something to eliminate the sound would be nice.

2) Is the linemans rope supposed to require two hands? One to hold the Blake's hitch, one to pull in slack? I stopped using it on my third hunt and switched to a webbing lineman's belt I can operate in the dark with one hand. Taking both hands off the tree to adjust my safety belt isn't an option.

3) It's tough to get all the slack out of the tree strap/rope bridge combo. The ropes bite, which they're supposed to, but it often means I need to try to get my tree strap higher than I can reach from the top of my sticks. I tried using a Gorilla tree strap and lineman's belt combo, which worked beautifully, but I don't feel comfortable using that beyond testing in my front yard. Like Boswell I prefer a long bridge short tree trap. I want the carabiner above eye level. Tough to do that.

So far I really like it. Hunted down to about 29 degrees so far wearing insulated camo and sat for three hours. That was my first sit. No issues.

I like the utility bag that came with the system, but the material is noisy. I love that it holds my Stepps, but it's too noisy to continue using. If it was fleece lined or something it'd be perfect.

Camoform helps with the paws. And it stays on well.

For the LB....ROPEMAN! It's a game changer

Thanks man. I was actually going to use Plasti Dip. I've used it before with success. I have long sheets of adhesive camo felt for my sticks I can try too. Thanks again. I'll check out ropeman, but for now the standard webbing linemans belt that came with my Tree Spider harness is excellent as well.

Thanks.

I have used socks or gloves that are cut off to cover the paws. Just slide them over the paw and you have silence.

Your thoughts are similar to many others that have used the aero hunter. Here are some solutions that should help you.
1) When carrying a bow or climbing sticks they tend to clang on the paws. Others have mentioned rubber coatings, but something to eliminate the sound would be nice. I have my paws wrapped up in camoform. If you take the time to do this, it will help a lot. I've had the same stuff on there for over 2 seasons now.

I didn't the blake's hitch on the lineman's belt before I ever hunted with it. You will often read about the ropeman1 on here, this is its most common use to aid in 1 handed adjustment.

I quickly ditched the adjustable bridge and put a stopper knot in the other end for a fixed bridge. A ropeman1 is also very handy on the tree tether for easy adjustment.

I like the utility bag that came with the system, but the material is noisy. I love that it holds my Stepps, but it's too noisy to continue using. If it was fleece lined or something it'd be perfect.
I ditched the bag that it came in for everyday use. I use it to store stuff but that's about it. It does eventually get a little quieter.

So, I realize this is an old thread but it is the topic of my post so instead of adding to the clutter I will try and revive it.

Anyone here ever strip the band and/or leg pieces off their evolution. You can pm me if you don't dare say it out loud. I'm interested to see if it has been done with success.

This was spawned by looking at the DIY kestrel clone thread, then my saddle. I noticed the actual saddle portion of the evolution looks very, very similar. Now I know there a lot of other things going for the evolution but I wonder if it could be converted into a "kestrelution". After all evolution is the name.

Any and all feed back welcome. Currently I'm 90% certain I will not be making any changes. But I'm still curious to know.
