Novix tree stand!

yesterday I hung an Assualt, a LIL Ambush and a Mission at ground level and liked all three and can see where any one of them would work better in a hunting setup. So what is wrong with having multi stands, at $204 go for it you need another one.

Short answer, Novix isn't set up to fold like the M7.

To fold that way, the batwing bracket isn't the issue. The M7 seat folds forwards to stow. So the interference would be the versa button.

No matter. To build it that way, the platform dog-ears need to be tall enough to accommodate the thickness of seat and post, folded together.

Also, the seat must be able to fold forwards, maybe that is possible on the HELO if the seat was installed upside down; Idk that the seat's dog-ears have enough clearance. (If possible, this would position the seat lower and probably work well as a knee rest for guys thinking of using this as a hybrid). But then you don't have a seat to use, unless a longer leveling bolt is installed, if that would even work. The plastic bumper pad would likely have to be moved up.

And even then, a hole in the seat would have to accommodate housing the Versa button when folded.

So...it is much easier to strap the seat in the shelf position so it doesn't hang.

You think there's that much different between the two? I have an assault ll and was considering ordering a helo just didn't think I would be gaining much?

I decided to keep the Helo. After getting it and the Beast out some more with some testing I found the Helo checks enough boxes for me to keep $425 in my pocket. The Beast is 2.5 lbs lighter on my scale. My measurements show the Beast to be roughly 2” longer. That is nice but there is enough flex in it that you won’t spend much time out there. The Helo seat is an inch shorter, ironically it fits me better being an inch shorter. The main thing I dislike about the Beast is the strap contacting the tree bracket. Not saying it’s necessarily an issue or problem because it may be a non-issue, it just bothers me personally.

I love my beast stand, but agree this bothers me as well. You have to make sure every bit of the slack is out or you'll hit. I can't believe more testers didn't find this annoying during testing and prototyping.

I can't find the seat height on the novix site is it 19in or 20?

Could you replace the batwing with a similar one from lone wolf or novix? (Set aside, for a moment, the comments about “having to” replace the batwing on a $625 stand…..for $12, wouldn’t replacing the batwing address this aspect of the beast stand, if one didn’t prefer the batwing it came with due to how close it comes to the straps?)

Is the strap-bracket contact a function of the bracket itself or is the distance between versa button and bracket less on the Beast Stand?

If you don’t get all the slack out of the strap or put it on a soft tree the bracket can sink in and you get some contact. This contact was bad enough to not let the stand fully seat.

Also, having the bracket further away from the button wouldnt hurt I just think the bracket is a bad design and to wide.

Seems to be more a function of the distance between the button and the bracket. I don’t think changing to a LW batwing solves the issue. I could be wrong as I don’t have a beast stand.
 
I think the Assaults2 is the best stand made. They didn't need to change anything on it. They should have just made a water jet platform for it. On the novix stand at least they didn't change what works good on the Assault 2.
 
If I was buying a stand today, here is how I would rank them:

1. LWCG 1.0
2. Novix Helo
3. Lone Wolf Assault II

(I haven't owned a Helo but have owned an Assault II and now own 1.0)
 
I just threw mine on classifieds, it’s an awesome stand I just don’t need several stands this season...
