Seriously Though.blacktail bucks like the thicker shorter timber and reprod on Billy goat steep muddy slopes for cover...but i found its pretty cool cuz you get a sky blind without needing to climb high to see down into the younger reprod trails,creek bottoms,and clearcut edges

I put in my story a while ago but still brings back goosebumps..... moral of the story is never get complacent and double check triple check at height..... and always know how to self rescue with your tether
 
Just jelous my trees come with climbing gear....god bless the mighty Douglas fir.
I’m gonna admit… we have hemlock here in the north east in abundance and when the right tree is in the right spot they are my first choice. Once a tree has been prepped I can walk in with nothing but my saddle and tether. Then all I gotta do is climb up and tie in. They are amazing cover. Occasionally I need to carry one stick or a couple screw ins to get up to the first safe branches. There I said it tail, I do it too, whenever possible.
