Old bow

dumb question.. how to figure string length? (and yes i'm showing my ignorance here, as all the trad guys sighed and laughed at me). I "assume" strings are set/not adjustable. I could be wrong tho.

pardon my ignorance, but with a modified warfbow, do you need a custom length string then, as the riser length may be different?
and besides just needing a new set of limbs and being cheaper, what would the advantage be of a warfbow than a regular trad bow?

Probably will have to get a string made for your length and theres no real advantage just a great way to repurpose a old bow

@Spence71
@Razorbak66 sent me this Hoyt Rambo to warf. I was real hesitant to actually make the ILF conversion plates cause I'm just not too handy. Got to looking at the thing today though and it turns out that Sage limbs fit inside the limb pocket of the Rambo. Only needed to grind the little nub/tab off by the limb bolt. There was 1/16 of space on either side of the limb once it was tightened into the pocket that created a bit of play. Took a piece of kydex and molded it into a limb sleeve while hot. The final product was nice. No side to side play at all. Cannibalized my Sage for donor limbs to see if it would fling an arrow and you know what? It did! Lost considerable poundage off the 35lb limbs (down to 29lbs at 27 1/4" draw) because the Rambo riser is longer than my Sage (20 1/2" vs 19). It shot well though. Shot about 25 arrows this afternoon and I was surprised with how VERY VERY QUIET it was. Think I'll hit the riser with a wire wheel tomorrow and get all the old paint off it. Can't wait to see what this thing turns into! Today's test was kind of just seeing if it would shoot and not blow up. Think it was a success! ;)

You can also use/cut felt pad instead of kydex to seat the limbs better. That was what I did and it work great, and it actually help with vibration and quietness. It was one of the steps I looked up to 'how to quiet your recurve bow'.

I'm going to get out an old Continental I have as well. Forgot about that one. I love the riser.

Would it be an abuse of my Mod position to lock this thread? Because if ya'll keep it up you are going to convince me I need one of these and I have so many different wood risers still on my list of wants. :confused2:
Oh c'mon. Jump in! The water is fine.

And a metal riser is, let's say... 7/8 traditional ;)

But seriously, I was at my dad's house tonight and this was hanging in the corner of the garage. Ends up it was my grandfather's, who passed away about 15 yrs ago. The camo paint job was done by my dad about 30 yrs ago. I have no idea if it's Warfable, or even what bow it is yet but, it will be cool if I can get it to work as it will have some sentimental value as well as be fun to shoot.

Edit: I'm leaning towards it being a PSE Phaser 2 and it appears to have potential: https://www.tradtalk.com/threads/pse-phaser-2-to-be-warfed.31368/
