One shot, everyone knows the rules!

Work has been crazy and I have not shot my bow in 5 days which doesn't happen often anytime of the year especially this time of year. With the wind today, not shooting for 5 days and having a knot in my back I wasn't expecting this but I'll take a little luck any day! It really is amazing though if you shoot your bow all year the confidence you have even if you go a few days without shooting. OCTOBER WHERE ARE YOU!!!

Have u got a sunburn yet or u wearing a hat.....hahahahaja

lol. I was last to shoot but I kept my locks.

It has lead to some fun bets on the 3D course we usually shoot fridays. One guy can’t shave till he kills a deer another has to do the blazin challenge at Buffalo wild wings. The skin in the game really makes it fun.

I've only shot about 2 dozen in the last two weeks, half Labor Day and half the Sunday before. ( Due to soreness in my be draw arm, from shooting WAY too much all summer I assume) From 27 or so, the gap in my pins. I'll take it!

No warmup. 40 yards. To my credit I did just carry that Glendell 100 yards. Next two shots were better. Edit this is compound

I think the deer facing uphill messed with my aim point some on first shot. These are also first shots this year at 3D animal versus shooting dots. Hope tomorrow looks better

I think the safest shot to go for is a low heart shot. That way if they drop you should get them through the lungs. If they don't drop you get a heart shot. I had a buck broadside at 12 yards and looking at me when I hit full draw two season's back. I was on the ground, and he was looking dead at me, and I just knew he would drop the instant I let the string go so I aimed under his armpit behind the front leg. I assumed this is where his vitals would be when the arrow got there. He didn't twitch and the arrow sailed right under his body, just where I was aiming. You just never know.

I have also had seemingly calm deer swap ends so fast you wouldn't believe it.

low heart shot? most folks advocate high heart shot for this reason

My thought is low heart so if they duck you are hitting either some part of the heart or the lungs above. If you aim top of the heart, you might get top of the lungs or spine. If they don't duck, you still get heart.

ok, i don't like low heart because if you misjudge the yardage or don't shoot great, then you can hit brisket and wound or clean miss

i guess i depends upon what we are considering center, low, and high heart

for me, high heart is the middle of the 10 ring here

I'm usually inside of 20 so yardage estimation is not such a big problem. Angles are usually more of a concern, and I aim for the exit. Here are a couple of what I regard as low heat shots. The first is a doe I got in the armpit and out the center of the chest between the front legs. Pure heart shot. She made it 35 yards and piled up. That was a Magnus Stinger Buzzcut. The buck, also a victim of a Magnus Stinger Buzzcut was a behind the shoulder and out the armpit heart shot. He went about 80 yards.

I prefer double lung hits but aiming for a lowish heart shot ensures I hit the heart at least and if they duck horribly, I will usually get the lungs.

Loving the 2 fletch. Looks like @Red Beard rubbing off on yah lol:grin:

haha, my dads been trying to convince me to do it for years. I think he was even trying to sell @Red Beard on it last fall when he hunted with us. When I went to order more feathers this summer I figured I might as well save 30 cents an arrow. :)
