One shot, everyone knows the rules!

I’m at 70lb with 300 spine and 225 grains upfront, 30” arrow, on my compound. If you want to go much heavier you’ll need to go 250 spine from what I’ve seen. But 300 spine with 225 grain up front on 30” arrow flys great for me.
My arrows are 29". I'm not going much heavier but think these 350 are just to weak.

Ok I guess I'll bite...but....I think I'll post my last two shots from 27ish yds instead!!..we won't discuss my first! Shot was from the steps.

I don't know why I can never post actual pictures on here, I always have to take screen shots for them to post.

I think the site pays for so much server space or something and pictures now days are so high resolution that the file size can be quite large. That said, it will only let you post smaller file size images (i think to reduce the amount of space it takes up). When you screen shot the image it is a smaller file size. If you have a iPhone you can select your photo then select the size before submitting. Also, before posting your reply you can select (full image) and the image will show up instead of a thumbnail.7B544336-D8D0-4834-BA1D-015CA82DB04E.png

I can't speak for these other peeps and it's just my opinion, but I think it does.....why train ur brain to spot at dots? Excluding butternuster shooting at the spots on fawns hehehe....none of the animals I'm trying to kill have dots...legal deer can't have spots here.
Also helps to practice for the ¼ to and ¼ away shot angle and shooting for the exit on elevated shots...
When tuning the bow and tuning the arrows I shoot block but for sighting in the sight and practice for hunting the 3d is more realistic of what it's really gonna look like.

Maybe it doesn't actually help but it's more fun....I can't stand shooting at set distances like at a range

Edit: oops too slow @gcr0003 beat me to it
I agree with both you and gcr0003. Especially shooting for the exit. It helps to aim for that opposite elbow/shoulder. The first shot is all the matters in real life so this is a great way to practice it. I also firmly believe in practicing in low light. With archery, it can mess with your accuracy on a deer if you are used to shooting at a dot in bright light. The deer can turn into a blob and "aim small miss small" logic goes out the window in the heat of the moment for me. It also helps you have some understanding of when its actually too dark for you to make a clean kill regardless of legal light. Anything that helps keep things familiar when the moment comes is worth it. Not saying ONLY practice that way but definitely worth adding that into your routine in my opinion. Also thinking through each shot and getting in the habit of going through steps to replicate in a real life scenario. It can get hectic in the tree and you miss lining up your peep with the ring on your sight, or rushing the release, messing up your anchor point, etc. With a firearm i have kinda been changing my preference to a base of the neck shot though. Thats just been fire away and watch em eat dirt haha

Another thing i do on my deer target now is ignore any circles or outlines. I try to visualize it as a live deer and tuck it into the elbow or wherever necessary depending on angle. I dont know how much its really going to help but I just know how flustered i can get on a big boy and reflecting on the shot (whether it was good or complete junk) it seems like everything was foreign to me and i just aimed and shot. Especially if its moving and stopping a lot or i thinks hes looking at me. i screwed up on a perfect 10pt last year and i know i didnt zero in my shot like i would have if it had a big bullseye on it.

Well, haven't shot a recurve since last season...tore a ligament in my right ring finger in the spring and it's just starting to feel OK...hurt like hell when I shot, not sure I will again...**** was OK though.
18 yards, broke out the 1967 bear Grizzly and threw what I could find for a string on it. Brace is at 9"...a little over 1" too much... #50.

I squeezed a shot in tonight.

If anyone's wondering.. a couple of years ago my then 5 year old and his friend decided to ride my deer target like a horse...

First one after work.....missed 6" to the right of my aim point.....40 yds...longest point from from roadside fence to garage.

No pics but I passed my bow test today. No warmup place two arrows inside of the insert on two different 3D deer at two deer 25 yards or closer.

Many will think this is simple......but some strange stuff can happen at a qualification.

Still that old 2x4 stand?
