OOAL MFG Scout Platform

Ok i can see on their website they have 2...

I tried it out at Saddlepalooza, and as someone who hates the old ring of steps, I was pretty impressed. I could easily see using this in a gun hunt, but I still love my predator for the stand up and spin during bow season.

Tried mine out last night and its awesome. With the stand off keeping the stick off the tree so much it seems to offer more feet area than you'd think, very comfortable. I was using a daisy chain so it didn't handle the side pressure as well as some would like but my plan is to use it with a ROS anyway. Cant beat the packabilty, the fiddle factor is worth it

Which stick and standoffs?

I use the strap mod on my sticks typically, but I will add the buckle back to the stick with the platform on it.

You should try it with the strap mod and see how it goes, would like to hear more feedback. The demo stick with OOAL Scout platform at SaddlePalooza just had a woven daisy chain strap and quite a few people jumped up on it and pushed off from every angle. Didn't see any issues.

To clarify, when I tried it with the strap mod I had zero issues. My thoughts on going to the buckle was simply for peace of mind on the platform. I will add that I only used the top hole to attach he scout to the LW stick and it performed fine. Besides, the scout that mounts to the shikar only utilizes that one fastener.

For the LW: The fasteners for the standoff/step appear to be partially threaded (meaning that the portion of the screw that goes through the tube does not have threads). The scout is thinner than the step I removed; therefore, I didn't have enough thread on the screw without adding 2 metal washers. I am going to purchase the correct size hardware. Additionally, I didn't like giving my standoff the option to rotate 360 deg., plus I wanted to add some more support so I drilled a hole in the scout where the fastener that holds the step up on one side and prevents the standoff from rotating goes. I will add hardware to it as well. I will show the finished product soon.

Should of made it easy on myself and got 2 of these while I was at it...

Why did you feel the need to use both holes? The second one that doesnt line up isnt necessary. At least that was my understanding from the description. Do your beast sticks have 2 bolts for each step? Not familiar witb them

Beast Sticks require 2 holes. The top bolt secures the step to the stick. The second bolt secures the Antler bracket (the bracket that bites into the tree)

Ok gotcha. I had to drill out both holes on mine to fit my api's, they were way to small. Now that i got it in my hand i definently need both bolts. The top one is super close to the top of the step. Im actually kinda worried i dont have enough meat there now. I just got it in the mail today.

looking back i think i should have just bought some 1/4 bolts and not drilled that out. definitely gonna get a 1/4 in bolt for the bottom hole just to take some pressure off the top one but its got less than a 1/4 of aluminum above the top hole now. mighta just F'd up. maybe i can just drill a hole right in the middle of both holes and only use that one. thats how the api steps are set up.

Yea my 1/4” screws were tight but I was able to tap them easily enough through the holes in the scout. If you opened up the ID too large you could step up your fastener size. They sell grade 8 socket head cap screws at local hardware stores.

No the bolts for api sticks are quite a bit larger than 1/4in. They fit perfect in the new hole but just not much meat left between the top of the platform and hole

Copy. Are you going to share what you end up with? I’ll post pics of what I did soon.

I just tried it on the tree. Its great. Super stable. 1000x better for me then a ring of steps. Ill post a picture when i drill out a new hole.

After taking it off and looking how the weight is distributed i didnt feel like i had to drill a new hole. I think its fine how it is for now. My setup is freaky light and compact now boiiiiii

Game changer?

We will see. Anything is a game changer from a r.o.s. that was horrible for me. I felt very stable and no pressure on my feets for how small it is. Like my oplux/kong duck tether too. Dano with the one stop shop

Got my scout platform today and installed on my Beast Stick. I only used the 1 bolt that also goes thru the antler bracket. This seems very sturdy and with the beast stick it really sticks well to the tree. Will need some stand time this fall with it to try it out, but I think this may work well for me especially for single sticking. The platform is well made. During an all day sit I think I would still take my Predator platform for a little more room.

DanO, been on the ones I just got from you utilizing an amsteel Daisy chain and had no probs with side pressure. But it was in a palm tree and with Squirrels original standoffs. Will check with yours when they get here. But I do use a LW strap on my Predator for that warm & fuzzy at height!!
