The first was a nice 6 pt. during our early bow season, that that got a pass because we had to "earn a buck" (kill a doe first)
He walked right up to my tree and was licking the tree where the urine had run down the bark.
The second was during our Dec. shotgun season, he walked right up to my tree and was smelling the urine on the bark.
He received 1.25 oz. of lead between the shoulder blades.
I have a good friend who's wife was a chemist at Exxon Mobil that worked with a fellow chemist that was a serious bow hunter.
He did an analysis of his and deer urine. The deer urine came from a small captive herd in PA.
Ultimately he discovered the both species urine basically turned into ammonia after approx. 2-3 minutes.
I have seen old trail cam pictures of an outfitter in Canada that used pure ammonia to "doctor" his scrapes, and by the
size and quantity of the bucks visiting the scrapes it showed that the ammonia worked very well.

Are you peeing on your ROS strap?
How about the straps on your sticks or steps??
So you have a wet tree and you climb down with your linesman's rope and hands around the tree!

If you tinkle from the JX3 you can rotate around to the opposite side of your steps or bolts.
Aim way down to the bottom of tree so most of it is close to the ground.
Tree will be dry by the time I descend and if there is any on a strap not a problem.
Urine is a semi sterile liquid when it leaves you, very low bacteria count.
Not that I would do it, but there are people that drink their own urine.....

The issue is more with ring of step users.
And if you are lucky, yes you will get to be middle age. Middle age is 65 to 85.
 
I’ve done it to check wind direction or to alert someone they are in my hunting zone

^^^This is why I think deer urine scents are a money making joke. Millions are spent every year on deer urine. I never use them. I too pee in scrapes or off stand all the time.

I'll smell deer piss every chance I get while I'm in the mtn. Whether it's in a scrape or while I'm tracking in the snow. The smell of fresh piss/odor is very distinctive, much different from anything else, even marketed stuff. Nothing I've ever purchased smells like the deer in my area and I've bought a wide variety of it. It really starts to get spunky come Oct/Nov when their hormones are ramped up. It's also very very dark in color. Also, I've had doe and buck piss (normal and rub urinate) in front of my cams while in video mode and then had other deer on that trail/scrape within minutes or hours. Most of the time they DGAF about the piss, not even an investigative whiff unless it's rut time...then they sniff everything. So basically what I'm getting at is this...early season don't waste your $$$, rut time they are getting so wound up they'll sniff/investigate most anything, even used tampons. So you could piss wherever you want even on your boots, but I still like to do it away from where I'm hunting if I can.
