Pods For A Cause (milkweed)

Yes , the white floaters without the brown seed will.show the thermals and show exactly where your scent stream is going for a super long ways off
I process the milkweed pods a little different. When the pod is split on it's own but not so much you can't handle it without making a mess. I open it up and scrape the seeds off with my thumb nail, then close it up and staple the seem closed. you lose some floaters but no seeds make them float nice.

Milkweed is ready to pick daily in Massachusetts

I may have to give that a try.

Not trying to be a debbie downer here but shipping wild plants across state lines in bulk quantities is a good way to introduce pests and invasives to a new area. There are USDA regulations for a reason. As many of you know, the milkweed is an integral part of a monarch butterfly's life cycle and I'd hate to see something get out of balance for the sake of determining wind direction. I apologize if this has already been looked into or taken into account. Just something to think about!

Four of the above guys ^^^^ need to check their PMs. Time to square up so I can send the donation.
Thank you.

Current total is $630

And another special thanks to the very generous EXTRA donations! Some guys just donated (didn't need pods) and some guys kicked in a second time! You guys know who you are. Thank you so much!

@Allegheny Tom thank you for putting it all together. Wouldn’t have expected it would raise that much. It just reinforces what a great group of hunters we have. Thanks for your time putting it all together.

As of this morning, we stand at $700 even, from 22 guys.
One guys still owes. Tracking says the package was delivered. A PM reminder was sent to him.

I'm going to make one more adjustment to my plan...
I will pick up everyone's shipping cost, so if you thought $5 of your donation was to cover shipping, that $5 is now part of your total donation to SOWF.
So taking that into account, we are at $810 for SOWF! I will get the money to them next week and I will post the receipt.

Thanks guys! Quality bunch of people on this site.

I second what @EricS said above and that is awesome of you to pick up the shipping costs Tom! Thanks for taking the time to do this.

A big shout out to you Tom. It's it's clear that the membership here is a class act. But my hat is off to you and your wife for going the extra mile to collect for such a great cause. I'm glad we had a bunch of folks step up and make this happen. Plus milkweed is the best way I know of to get a good looong look at what the wind is doing. A good product, a great idea, a call to action answered. It's a grand step from..... what can I do, to look what we've done. Thanks for taking the lead.

Agreed. None of this would have happened without @Allegheny Tom . Between the leg work of finding, picking, and packing the stuff to sending it all out and tracking down the donations he already went above and beyond but then to cover the shipping too! give yourself a nice pat on the back. Thanks again for putting this together.
