Poor-man’s stick platform

I’ve been wanting a straight platform that attaches to the top climbing stick like the one from OOAL Scout - I have some extra API sticks I got last year on sale and used the extra steps with a longer bolt to create a quick stick platform. I purchased a Treehopper Tree Suit but don’t think I like carrying the platform - it’s not the weight since it’s super light, but would rather have a stick and platform together. I haven’t used it yet but hope it feels solid and safe - will give it a try before I hit the woods

I had a couple sets of those sticks (or something very similar to them from Muddy). That will work, as you called it - a poor-man's stick platform, AND a boat anchor! Got to be quite the mass hanging up there.

I'm liking this idea, I might try using less steps and some kind of aluminum spacer! Thanks!

I tried the same thing....to keep them from rotating I used small # 8 machine screws and nuts in the outer most slots

Take the 2 middle steps out To cut weight. Put a spacer in between the outside steps to keep foot area up...... spacer could be a bolt with nuts threaded on to keep the outside steps sturdy and spaced correctly.

Cut a 2x4 and put in middle cut on weight then extra whole slip a screw and washer then it won’t rotate

Great idea. I tried this for cheap but oak flooring and bolts are surprisingly heavy. It never got past the development stage.

How did the one with the Lone Wolf seat work out for you?
I used it a few times and it works good but I decided to go smaller when I was hunting.
I posted about it here.

Well this is peaking my interest. I just got my saddle and got most of everything ready. I made a lineman belt and tether and have been practicing. My main tether and lineman belt will be here tomorrow. My platform is on back order and I am planning on hunting a public area that has almost no pressure since it is such a pain in the butt to got to. I was going to just use the top stick since I will not be high up, maybe 3 sticks at most. May have to tinker with a solution tonight.

Use 2 steps and long bots with spacers. Works pretty good. I stacked 1” stick material between mine when I tried it.

Make sure that long bolt holding everything together is strong enough to handle the force of all of your weight out on the edge.

I did something similar, but with the angled scout platform.

I have since filled the tube with expanding foam, added a 2 step aider to the bottom step, and covered everything but the scout platform itself with camo hockey tape.

It's the perfect combination for me. Climbing method and platform in one. Just enough room for me to turn and shoot weak side. Small enough to strap to a day pack and not get caught on everything in the woods. I love it...

Thanks guys for the ideas! It's appearance seems like it would be heavy, but the stick is surprisingly light (don't have a scale). I really wanted to get a Scout but last I looked they were out of stock - when they come back available (I have both Hawk Helium and API) I'm going to definitely purchase one.

DB4x4 - I like how you added the step on back of stick - kinda makes it both a leaner and flat platform.

Can use a piece of 1 inch aluminum then add a bolt lower from stick to spacer to keep spacer and outer step form rotating. I like it. Simple cheap and creative.

That was the idea; use the existing displaced step to create more top side surface area, similar to the Artisan platform, and use the Scout platform to create angled surface area for leaning and maneuvering.

I drilled custom holes so that the Scout is held in place with 2 bolts, instead of just one. These bolts also hold the top step and standoff in place.
