I’ve always been a private land hunter but I was messing around and found a few public spots I might check out. As everyone knows no screw in stuff so where can I get a reasonable strap on gear hanger without self sowing?

2 daisy chain 23kN rated straps. I have these two in gray and put a length of tubular webbing with a climb rated cinch buckle and a carabiner. For 18.00 (70") and 20.00 for the climb rated cinch buckle and wire carabiners rated for 20kN. 40.00 for two and with a cheaper non climb rated cinch buckle that you use on a hammock you can make your own for roughly 25.00 and that's for two verses 25.00 for one from tethered. I have nothing against tethered. I bought their predator, predator bag, tether and lineman's belt...just wanted to give someone a chance to DIY.

This is what I use.

Check out G2 Outdoors. Greg made one and it's awesome. I bought a daisy chain from REI and a Heroclip and made a public gear hanger without sewing based on Greg's gear hanger.

I use a piece of Amsteel Lash-It spliced back through itself about every two inches. This avoids the permanent loops that stick out when you make something out of paracord but gives you the same flexibility to hang something every two inches or so. It’s also almost weightless and 7 feet of it when hanked, is about the size of one’s finger. Let me know if you want pics.

What size amsteel did you use. I made a HYS strap but it’s to bulky for me

The cheap way is to tie a bunch of loops into some type of string. Personally, I have 8' of paracord with 3" loops water knotted in ever 6" or so. Cheap light simple.

The hollow core for this stuff allow you to splice it on itself without knots so nothing gets caught on bark, gear, etc. I threw a small antler tip toggle on one end to use as a lock up. Initially I only did this because I thought it was cool looking and I’m all about fashion when in the saddle. However, it’s actually pretty slick. You could just as easily omit the antler and run one end through one of the openings and hang your first piece of gear on the appropriate loop.

I’ll send a picture tonight. Here is a link to making a daisy chain with Amsteel, in case you need it. I think it’s cool to post links. I don’t really “do” social media so if I’m breaching some sort of rule here just let me know.

By the way, I’m sure I’m not the first person to think of using AmSteel in this way but I got the idea from one of Greg’s (Tethrd/G2Outdoors) videos regarding the daisy chain he made for the same purpose. Credit where credit is due.

Get the HYS strap. It's perfect. I like how the loops stay open and I also like the G hook they have to sinch it up to the tree.

Well worth it!

The cliptor is also pretty slick. I was sceptical at first but I really like it.

Tethrd takes all the DIY solutions and makes them near perfect.

The paracord system with loops works. Plus we all probably have paracord lying around so it can be virtually free. It's not quite as user-friendly as a webbing version where the loops stay open/away from the tree.

Some of the cheap daisy chain straps will work well also. Just make sure the links don't lay flat. Those are annoying in the tree.

You can make your own pretty easily if you can sew. Its a super basic diy project.
