RDA 1 stick

I really did not expect the RDA stick to be that light. That's incredibly tempting. I could basically get the RDA and the Seeker for the cost of an EWO stick.

yea I bought the seeker prior to the season, I have 6-8 hunts out of at least if not a few more. It’s the only large platform with the angled front and honestly with size 13 alpha burleys I wouldn’t want anything smaller. In my opinion it is heavy but it is worth the weight. I do have a ROS if I really wanna cut the weight.

Forgive my ignorance. But what is the ROS?

What pack do you use to haul the stick and platform in? I'm really leaning towards going this route.

I have the Kuiu Ventire 2300. I used to use a normal backpack for now since I rarely go over a mile just due to the area. I bought the kuiu for rifle season when I cover 6+miles a day. Once I tried it with my saddle I was set. This was my setup all season, had no problem carrying it around. If I had a long hike I’d put my layers in the pack and get dressed at the tree before starting my climb. It took a few minutes to unpack and get set for my climb but I was generally at height with my bow within 15-20 min. And that’s taking my time staying quiet. One sticking and 2TC just eliminated the whole pack up at the end of the hunt for me which was always the worst part for me.

I went with the crows nest top, lookout bottom and a 3 step aider. I'm really happy with it. Looks like it great quality piece of gear . It's gonna be nice to ditch the extra weight of 3 sticks and a platform, plus my knaider and swaider.
What does your setup weigh? waiting on mine to ship now. Ordered the same setup you described.

I'll have to weigh it when I get home, but think it's about 4 lbs. I'll get back to later today. It's a nice set up , I don't think you will disappointed.

Thanks! I keep checking the site for shipping updates. Nothing yet. I have never one sticked but I think I will like it. The cam cleat will eliminate a ton of time and fiddle factor from my current set up of trucker hitching 4 daisy chains on my way up.

Good luck with. I hadn't 1 sticker before either, and I have only done 1 practice climb and I'm doing another one this weekend. Honestly my first climb went well and it was as simple and easy as everyone says it is. I just had go slow and think about what I was doing. No problem!

Same experience for me, I found it just as easy as climbing with multiple sticks. I did however find that using my Lineman’s belt made it much more relaxing. Rather than hugging the tree while balancing in my stick to advance the tether I just climbed up the aider to my bottom step, took slack out of my LB, advanced the tether, took one more step up, advanced my tether again and sat into it, then I let slack back into my LB and moved the stick. It’s was very simple and not sweaty at all.

Taking your time is the most important part. If I go nice and easy, I feel that it's less work and easier than setting multiple sticks. Being in a hurry is where it can get to be less than enjoyable, but the same can be said for multiple sticks, climbers, and all other climbing methods as well.

I just give myself plenty of time in the morning. After work hunts or if I am running late is where I have to watch myself and not get frustrated and in a rush, but I have learned to just relax and take my time (for the most part). No matter what system I am using.

Sounds like solid advice. When im running behind or rushing to beat first light, i usually abandon my climb and revert back to sitting on the ground with a good vantage point. Better to sit down and relax than stress my hunt into an unenjoyable slog.

Definitely solid advice, my issue isn’t the mornings, I always give myself way too much time in the the AM. No matter the method they are usually my best climbs. It’s those afternoon hunts where I’m rushing to not be away from my bow for too long where I run into issues lol

This I can fully agree with, the afternoon is much harder to talk yourself down, for whatever reason, in broad daylight it feels like you are always missing something or something is watching you. When in all reality if I can convince my self to take my time, I am making less noise and smoother motions that won't necessarily alert every animal in the woods. Also 99 percent of the time I am missing absolutely nothing. Much easier said than done and I still struggle with it, but I am also much more comfortable and better situated once I get up there if I take my time. This makes me more cognitive of my surroundings and better prepared if things do happen fast, rather than beating the fire up the tree and then having (or at least feeling like it is) total chaos for the first 10 or 15 minutes trying to situate everything that I neglected in only trying to get air borne as fast as possible

Sounds like solid advice. When im running behind or rushing to beat first light, i usually abandon my climb and revert back to sitting on the ground with a good vantage point. Better to sit down and relax than stress my hunt into an unenjoyable slog.

I still climb if that was my original intent I just make myself slow down and take it easy. I am always happier , once I reach hunting height, when I do this.

Finally got out today checking out some new areas. I put the RDA on the tree for the first time. I’m fairly happy with the stick. This was my first time one sticking. I thought the smaller platform would be in issue but it was comfortable. I forgot my ROS and that will be plenty of space, even with my bigger boots on. Definitely happy with this one. Stick is solid.

At the moment I’m only running the double steps, I need to try someone’s out with a platform…….but I really love my seeker so I think I’ll just roll with it as is.

So I got my RDA one stick yesterday. First thing I noticed was how narrow the standoffs seemed to be compared to the EWO one stick. I didn't expect them to hold steady at all. I made one quick climb today. Only making one move. But I was very impressed with how well they stayed out. I didn't do anything extreme on them, as I only did double steps on the top and bottom, but I moved around a fair bit trying to make the bottom kick out, but it didn't. I'm impressed. It's supposed to be warmer tomorrow than it was today so I'll probably go out and try again on a couple of different sized trees.

It’s funny you say that because the RDA standoffs are beefier than my Novix ones.

When you say narrow are you talking skinny in diameter or that the opening of the standoff, the inside of the V (\-this-/) is narrow? I am curious, my RDA stick doesn't have their standoffs.

Narrow inside the V.
